I read a lot about what ammo is most recommended for AK's (I'm running a Zastava M70 N-PAP from Century Arms). When I got it, there were some sharp edges, burrs and other imperfections that I didn't want file/sand/polis down so I fired off 200 rounds with the open sights to get the action working smoothly - Every single round fed, fired, ejected perfectly. Then, a good cleaning and back out to test out my new optic (Primary Arms 3X Compact Prism Scope with the 7.62X39/300BO ACSS Reticle). After only 10 minutes I was shooting 2 inch groups (bench) at 50yds which is the recommended zero for this optic. Gun and ammo combo way exceeded my expectations. I bought three,12"x24" AR500 silhouette targets to array around my range so I could plink at them... I'll still do that but after seeing what this gun is capable of I may find a way to challenge myself even more. I was going to go with a brass round with boxer primer because I like to reload, but at this price I don't need to waste my time. I'll be back for more, and soon at the rate I'm burning this up.

Many owners have found that Tula ammo is not reliable in the Ruger Mini 30. A friend recommended Brown Bear. So far it has always fired and out to 100 yards it has given satisfactory groups. The Mini 30 will never be a minute of angle target rifle even with extensive after market tweaking, but at least Brown Bear ammo always functions in this one.
