Liberty's Civil Defense rounds are designed to achieve more stopping power (kinetic energy) and terminal effect (wound cavity/lethality) than any other handgun round. A personal defense round, the Civil Defense line is lead-free and uses a monolithic nickel-plated copper fragmenting projectile with a deep cavity hollow point in a nickel-plated (brass) cartridge case. Civil Defense travels at approximately twice the speed of traditional lead based ammunition and delivers 30 to 40% more kinetic energy transfer than other leading ammunition.

All I can say is WoW these little freedom seeds out of my Taurus 605 at 35 steps is Deadly by all means a 5 star.

You can read almost the same review on the 38 Special as I would have to say about these. However these are a real handfull. They exit the barrel at 2100fps. Hold on tight as they remind me of the recoil that is present when you shoot 180 grainers. I did some investigation on the S&W Forum. The real experts cautioned about using light loadings in 357 (under) 140 grains as they will cause forcing cone erosion . I believe Liberty sells these for short barrel personal defense. I wanted them to hunt with but these are not going to the deer woods with me in my 686!
