My Taurus 1911 is impressive. Accurate, reliable and easy on the eyes. IMO, this is one of the best values in a quality 1911.

The good :
Buds service. Excellent communications with customers. Just darn pleasant people to deal with.
Pistols finish was very nice. Much improved "clean "checkering on the front strap and under trigger guard .Earlier Taurus PT 1911's checkering was so so. My pistol lacked the billboard size Taurus advertising on the slide. Taurus replaced this on new models with a small circular logo tastefully located on the rear left portion of the slide. Only a mid sized "1911 logo applied to the right side of the slide. Nicely done Pistol looks MUCH cleaner. The trigger breaks exceptionally clean. No grit and minimal over travel. Fired over 100 flawless rounds with no failures of any kind. Pistol also shoots to the point of aim.

The Bad :.
Sights are some "no name" Novak cloned sights. The pistol DID come with sharp edges everywhere. Razor sharp burrs around the ejection port and under both sides of the slide. I noticed strange noises the first time I racked the slide. Upon dis assembly I found a gigantic burr in the spring tunnel was catching on the recoil spring. All these burrs however, were easily cleaned up with a stone and jewelers file. The slide to frame fit was NOT high quality. Slide rocks side to side up and down. The trigger, although broke clean, broke at over 5 pounds.

This is a decent entry level 1911. I tried to consider the price point in my evaluation. If the slide was matched to the frame a little better. I would have given it five stars. Despite the burrs. Note to Taurus, just because you serialized the slide and frame identically, you still need to ensure they actually fit properly together before you can claim on your advertisement they were "fitted". I'm being overly generous with 4 stars. No failures at the range and shoots straight.

This is the fist firearm I've purchased through Buds. Super fast shipping and easy to deal with. This will not be my last purchase from them. Bought the Taurus PT-1911SS. Gun was filthy right out of the box. After field stripping it and doing a good cleaning/oiling, the gun is awesome. Feels great in your hand. No rattles or wierd noises. Read a ton of reviews and everyone loves this gun, with the exception of the ones that are 1911 snobs.
If it shoots half as good as it looks/feels, I will be very happy.

Dealing with Buds was great like always. Quick shipping and all. This PT1911, while a great price, leaves some to be desired. I am not unhappy with my purchase. I actually like the gun overall. But, I don't think this is for a first time 1911 owner. When milling, they left the milling oil mixed with metal shavings throughout the firearm. There was also numerous sharp burrs near the hammer that will need some filing down and light sanding to smooth out. Inside the frame, there are a lot of burrs too, but they don't hinder operation so I'm not worried so much about those. But I had to do a complete disassemble. I pulled the hammer, sear, disconnector, trigger, mainspring housing and all. They were all covered with the thick milling oil and had small pieces of metal shavings on them. The trigger was gritty out the box because of this. And this is why I say not a first time 1911 owner gun. A person new to 1911's might get confused about complete teardown and cleaning and reassembly. But, once I cleaned and reassembled the gun, it looks great. And it's a lot smoother on the trigger and slide action. So all in all, after the cleaning, I am happy with the gun. But just know that this isn't a wipe it down, lube and shoot out the box deal. You're going to have to tear this down all the way. And you might have to do some filing or sanding to get rid of burrs. As far as fit and finish, it seems really tight and the finish is nice. The checkering on the front and rear of the magwell are even and look perfect. The grips are cheap plastic and are getting replaced. Not a deal breaker at all as I was going to replace them anyway. I'm comfortable with tools and working on firearms, so I would buy another one as the price is cheap. But if you're not, then I would suggest buying another 1911.
