I waited to hear back from S&W before writing the review. Gun is amazing, I love it. However after getting home with the gun I noticed the interchangeable front sight was very tight and could not even be taken out. After haveing to knock it out with a punch I noticed the retaining roll pin was smashed. After disassembling the whole front sight assembly what I found was some media, assuming from the guns blasted finish, was packed into the spring pocket not allowing the sight to slide back far enough to clear the roll pin. So instead of checking and cleaning, whoever assembled the gun just pounded the sight in damaging the retaining pin. I was able to clean the pocket out and get everything working properly and smith and Wesson has a new roll pin on the way. Other than that, 4 stars because I love the gun, and I have ordered 3-5 guns from buds and they’ve always been great.

I've always been impressed with Smith and Wesson firearms. Quality and performance especially with the revolvers. As for my experience with Buds guns I rate them with excellent experience and highest rating. I've purchased several firearms through them, with great experience every time. 5 stars very pleasant

The SW 686 SSR is outstanding right out of the box. The SW custom shop revolver has a crisp trigger pull and smooth cylinder release for quick reloads. Buds price and service was excellent.

My 686 is beautiful. The cylinder release was VERY tight and took a lot of effort to open at first. I worked on it - open and closing and it got a little better. 60 rounds of 38sp at the range did the trick. Gun is extremely accurate and the trigger is amazing. Very easy to shoot rapidly and accurately in double action with 38sp. I have not yet put any 357m through it yet but very little recoil with 38sp. Good weight and very well balanced. I am extremely pleased with this gun - really really like it.

very nice gun, fit and finish is superb, I’ve put about 200 rounds thru it with no problems. It’s very accurate, easy to get back on target. Very happy with purchase, and as always Buds did a great job as usual

I love the pistol but the one I received was not new. It obviously had been dry fired by the ring on the cylinder like all revolvers get. Also there were scratches, a sing in the crown, and now I see the front sight is bent like it was dropped. There was also a Hogue grip in the box so obviously it was not even opened by Buds staff prior to sending. I wish things were maybe inspected before being sent as a new item. The warning sticker from the box was inside the box on the foam and the rust resistant wrap was balled up. I mean it was fairly obvious it was not new. I had emailed Buds the day it was received, no response. I emailed again today hoping for a new front sight as this was is 15 degrees off center. I’ll give a rating after I hopefully receive a reply. As we have a 10 day waiting period it is difficult to get a good inspection in until it is home. Buds is awesome and this is not the norm. All other items have been perfect.
