Love the gun, very accurate. Bought spear cylinder, so I can load both before going to range. Got a good price through Buds.

Due to the current pandemic there was a delay in receiving the product, but this is common everywhere now.
The revolver itself is outstanding. It's weighted well, cylinder has sure clicks and stops, even the rear of the cylinder is cut to hold the hammer in between the p-caps making it safer for transportation while all six chambers are loaded. It's very well made.
If you live in more humid area's the brass will start to patina pretty quickly which i personally like.
The service at Buds is incredible, Definitely they will be taking more of my money.

When I ordered the Traditions Bison, the pandemic was in full swing and businesses were trying to stay open. Bud's was no different. But what was different about Bud's was that they kept me informed aout my order status, the delays and the anticipated shipping date. The Bison was shipped - delayed, just as they said it would be - and arrived when they said it would be. No surprises. Good job - again - Bud's. A satisfied customer.

The 1858 Traditions Army .44 caliber 12” octagon barrel is a nice pistol. Although I had trouble Loading the .44 Cylinder. After carefully examining the .44 Cylinder & Plunger I found the Plunger to be a little larger than the hole would allow.
So, I removed the .44 Cylinder & Plunger an beveled the plunger down just a little bit. Now they refit perfect like they were made for the .44 Cylinder. All I need to do is to try and Blue where I sanded down the edges so it will not Rust…
Excellent Pistol and I love it regardless of the work I had to do…Have not gone out and shot it because of this issue, but once I am able to get it Blued I do plan on it…..Bones…..

As a little disclaimer, I've only put about 30 rounds through it as of this writing, as I just received the firearm recently and the rain ended my first shoot session with it early. That said: Excellent piece of history right here! This revolver performed amazingly well at about 15 yards. Incredibly accurate, and at 25 grains pyrodex P the recoil is incredibly mild, even my younger sister who has only shot once before and that was a .22, was able to blast a beer bottle at seven yards on her very first shot ever with this revolver. I was incredibly impressed to say the least. I know the gun can't be entirely to blame for that, but when I gave her my 9mm subcompact and my .45 long colt she only hit about 1/3 of bottles she was able to hit with the 1858 Bison. The long barrel adds velocity and power to the already stout .454 lead ball. The damage it was doing to watermelons, FBI Q targets, and beer bottles was just as, if not even more devastating than .45 long colt out of a 7.5 inch barrel. This revolver is no toy. It's pretty and makes a nice conversation starter, anddd admittedly can take some time to load, but is nonetheless a gun that has historically taken more lives than many modern guns and still can if used for self defense, or improperly if one is not safety conscious. Like I said, this is not a toy, this is a legit, accurate, powerful, gorgeous old school death slinging machine. But even though it isn't a toy, so long as you're safe about it, IT IS incredibly fun to 'play' with out in the woods taking shots at cans and bottles, watching the smoke cloud out the sky haha. Excellent revolver. I want another one badly. If you're on the fence, hop off that sucker and buy this bad boy. Use CCI number 10 percussion caps. Use either FFFg black powder or Pyrodex P. Important for sealing and accuracy: Use .454 balls, not .451 balls. Oh and 25 grains of Pyrodex P gives a great balance of power and low recoil, so for fun use that. If carrying for self defense, perhaps load to 30-35, but honestly I'd still just use 25, it has proven sufficient on the range. Sorry for the long review, I'm just passionate about this piece right here, I really like it. Go buy one or two.

I found this gun to be of good quality for the money. Right out of the box I shot a baseball size 6 shot group standing freehand at 25 yards. I now own 3 black powder revolvers and like this one the best.
