These rifles are an excellent value and a perfect entry level long range rifle. They come with a ton of great features and shoot well with good ammo. Upgrade the glass and it will be awhile, before you outgrow it!

Absolutely 0 bad things to say about this rifle. The bolt cycles smooth, trigger is crisp, and the nikko stirling optic preforms very well and is crystal clear at the highest magnification.

I purchased this combo after a lot of research. I ordered a new scope before even receiving this combo. I wanted a scope with more magnification and wasn't sure about Nikko Stirling. My plan was to sell the scope on eBay. However, once I received the scope I found it to be surprisingly good for a combo scope. I can read the writing on my target at 100 yards. The scope is bright, crisp, and clear. I am going to keep it for another gun. I have shot this combo on 2 different days. The first day I followed the break in procedure instructions that came with the gun. I shot a couple decent groups but didn't really warm up the barrel. The second day I shot better. The best 3 shot group at 100 yards was 1/2" edge to edge and just over 1/4" center to center. This is from the bench with sandbags. So far it shoots Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr SMK the best. It has a 1:10 twist so looking to try some 175gr next. The stock is a little flimsy but I like how it feels so I plan to keep it for now. The bipod is ok for me. The flip caps on the scope are not high quality but do work. The magazine adapter is not metal but works well so far. The original internal magazine and floor plate is metal and feels solid. The 2 stage trigger is very nice on my gun. It is a little bit different than I thought it was going to be but it breaks clean at 3 lbs with no creep. The first stage is just take up with little resistance at all. The second stage has all the resistance but has s crisp break. I am happy with this combo. It is a great deal.

Fantastic shooting rifle..I spent about 50 hours online researching the different 308 options. I chose the Howa over the Remington 700 based on the now hit or miss quality reported on the 700 including how often the 700 jams.....This gun will easily shoot sub MOA...a high percentage of my 100 yard shots were simply enlarging the same cloverleaf pattern....the bipod is made by Buffalo and does seem cheap but works okay...you get the 10 round magazine already installed with the original baseplate in the box...When I went to the range...many people wanted to look at the gun including the rangemasters...they were surprised the scope had parallax and mil dots for the price. I did seriously consider the Savage 10...but chose this one since I wanted the bull barrel and for the value of the package.

This rifle is great, had an issue with the scope but legacy corrected it as soon as they could, great customer service. The rifle, I installed the ten round magazine and headed to the range. After some bore sighting and adjustment using PMC FMJ 147 grain; this rifle shot a consistent three shot half inch group at 100 yards, amazing! The trigger is crisp and the recoil is very manageable. The bolt is a little rough at first but barely noticeable. The scope is very nice (clear and sharp) for coming with the rifle, the rings are great. The bipod is a not great, but does the job, and hasn’t failed or loosened up. This thing is accurate. I would definitely buy this again. I love the ten round mag. This is a great package.

About my first impression when I got into the rifle. First off mine came with the 10 round mag adapter installed, humm don't know why others got there's with the metal plate installed? I tried to I stall the clip it was difficult and I pushed it and the clip fell apart spring and bottom cover went flying to the floor. I never intended to install the 10 round clip in the first place. I can only see piller bedding stock is flexible. I do plan on a replacement. The trigger is sweet and crisp I'm impressed. The scope looks good, its clear. I had no issue screwing the sun shade on but you must not use force the threads are fine thread so you you will know its cross threaded quickly. My only problem with the rifle is the statement about it having a skeletal aluminum frame in the stock. I can't find it only two pillers. But for the $700.00 price a $200.00 stock can be purchased with ease. I would buy this again if needed. But I also would look for a laminated stock.

Purchased this rifle to get into long range shooting; however, with each rifle I own, they are a tool first and are used for hunting purposes. Now that the season is in full swing and the gun has been put through its paces, I feel I can confidently provide a review of the gun and components. First let me say, I have no complaints with the firearm itself. It has performed flawlessly. When I first sighted in the rifle I was in the bull and stacked two rounds in five shots. I then shot sporting clays at 100 yards in a standing position and hit them each time. The gun shot true and was not as heavy as I had thought it would be. The firearm comes with a metal trigger guard and plate installed, the replacement to allow utilization of the 10 round magazine is plastic/polymer as is the magazine. The magazine does extend from the rifle about two to three inches so if that is an issue, you may not wish to use the magazine option. The bi-pod is cheap but does its job and I have not had an incident when it failed to do its job. The scope included with the package is clear, and allows the user to zoom quite a great deal. The sun shield is aluminium and although you must be careful when threading it on, it is secure and holds nicely. The scope covers are horrible. I could find a replacement for the rear easily enough; however, the front replacement is proving to be a bit more difficult. I have thus far purchased one a size slightly too tight and have split it so it will slide over the sun shade. The illuminated reticle has several varying degrees of brightness and in low light can tend to overpower the available light in the scope. I do not use it when hunting, and when I tried, it was a bit distracting. However; that being said, it does work and there again are several varying brightness levels, 12 I think. In low light, when facing the sun or where the sun has just gone down, this scope picks up too much light, regardless of whether or not the sun shade is installed. Therefore, use of higher magnifications washes out the sight picture and the user is seeing only a glare. Turning the scope down to 6 or less seems to fix this problem. When the sun is not an issue, the scope magnifies to the extent that I was able to distinguish individual hairs on a feral hog. (I do not wear corrective lenses nor do I need them) Thus far I have taken a deer as well as a hog and the gun has not lost its zero in any way shape or form. I would not consider that to be a remarkable achievement; however, I have found, due to the three turret design, it is difficult to put this rifle into a standard case without putting a large amount of pressure on the turrets. Therefore, it was a concern I had as this could lead to movement of the scope itself in the rings or to undue vibration on the scope. Speaking of the rings, they are rock solid and I would consider getting these for any other gun in the future. I do like the three stage safety (safe and can't even open the bolt, safe and can open the bolt, fire). The trigger takes a bit to get used to if you are not familiar with a 2-stage trigger; however, it is my favorite at this point. It is quick and crisp. I do wish the bolt was angled down a bit more; however, this is not a problem and is more a function of the fact my other rifles are angled lower. The stock is durable and the recoil pad is more than sufficient to absorb the recoil of this firearm. The stock does catch lint and dirt, but the stock fits well and allows positive grip in all conditions. I also appreciate the free-float of the bedding in the pillars. All in all, I would definitely purchase this package again, or another rifle and would mount another scope. Either way this rifle has been great and has become my new favorite in the gun cabinet.

This gun is awesome! I give the gun 4 stars because the bolt isn't as smooth as other rifles that I own, however with the additional accessories, the overall deal deserves 5 stars! The stock is solid. The scope is easy to adjust and with 4x16 magnification, you are able to reach out and hit targets from long distances with ease! The bipod does it's job well, although it isn't the best one that I've seen. The magazine kit is great to have because of the additional rounds, but it would be nicer if the base/trigger guard was made of metal instead of plastic. I recommend this gun to anyone who wants an affordable, high quality, tactical sniper rifle that looks really "cool!"
