Finally got to the range with my ported .45 Doubletap derringer. HOLY COW, that thing HURTS! Shot 4 rounds, two 185-grain hollow points and two 155-grain frangible rounds. My hand will probably hurt for 3 days now. That was NOT fun to shoot! In 4 shots, I had one light strike, but I was able to fire it off the second pull.
I still like it. I think maybe it may need a little break-in period for the light-strike problem. I'm not going to shoot it much, tho, since 4 rounds has bruised my hand. I'll probably use some spent shells to practice with the trigger. If that doesn't work, maybe it needs a strong hammer spring.
Do I recommend it? Yeah, maybe. If I can get rid of the light-strike problem, it should do what it's designed to do--shoot 2 rounds of .45 from a small lightweight package. Is it fun? No. Will I practice with it? HECK NO! But it is what it is.
4 stars because of the light strike. I'm not dropping the stars because of the extreme recoil, because I knew about that and got what i expected. Sort of. It about killed my hand, though!
