N-PAP is a great value. If you considering an AK, this one would be a great choice. Century International Arms listened to their customers. The previous versions of the N-PAP had two major complaints, the butt stock & the trigger. The trigger was replaced with CIA's RAK-1 and the butt stock has a more traditional shape. The fit & finish is very nice!

I have only a hundred rounds through it, with no issues.

Note: updated versions shipped 5/18/2015

A shout out too Bud's Chris for his excellent customer service.

Classic Zastava Quality!

I am a big fan of rifles made in (former) Yugoslavia. I have several firearms made in the Zastava factory and they all work and are built like tanks. From the SKS to the M48 and M24/47 Mausers, to the M57 Tokarev variant pistol, and now to this NPAP.

This rifle looks good! You can inspect it closely and see the quality over say a WASR (nothing against WASRs, they are great when done right). There are parts on this gun that are obviously milled whereas they are some kind of cast part on other rifles.

The sights are lined up properly, the action is smooth as can be with the Tapco G2 trigger group (more on that in a minute), trigger pull is nice, finish is nice, wood is nice. One thing I noticed is that I got a regular AKM style buttstock, not the longer and higher-comb Yugo M70 style buttstock. I wasn't expecting that, but it may turn out to be a blessing since most people don't much like the higher comb because it interferes with iron sights and sometimes causes cheek slap. An added bonus is that I now have a rear sling mount whereas the M70 style has none.

The bolt and carrier definitely rides hard over the Tapco G2 hammer. This is NOT Zastava's fault. The firearm was designed to work with a foreign hammer which does not have the funky "ledge" like the G2 hammer does. This puts increased pressure upwards on your carrier as you cycle the bolt.

If this is causing you problems, such as mushrooming, or the bolt hanging up, it's a super easy fix. I won't go into it here, just use your favorite search engine and look it up, you will be guided through it. This is nothing to worry about, and is not the rifle's fault. Blame it on whoever thought up 922r regulations which causes Century to have to replace factory parts with US made parts.

Mags fit snugly with just the correct amount of play. You don't want them rock solid, there is supposed to be a tiny bit of wobble there for reliability. It is definitely right on in that department. Every mag I tried fits perfect. I have Yugo surplus metal, tapco, Magpul (two of these came with the rifle), Bulgarian 40 rounders, Romanian 75 round drum, Thermold, etc. All fit fine. The magazine well was cut out properly and the metal work is nice, no sharp edges and very uniform.

The dust cover is very solid, no wobble, same with the gas tube, that sucker is ON there! I like these to be on tight vs loose and floppy.

The rifle was covered with a proper amount of oil which has kept it rust free during the travel from Serbia to Century to Bud's to my town. Easy to wipe up and then properly lube.

I will comment later on accuracy and reliability but I expect no issues whatsoever. The Yugos have a heavier barrel than most AK variants and the lack of chrome lining and solid design should lend to nice accuracy.

Don't let the lack of chrome lining turn you away from these. You should clean your rifle thoroughly after corrosive ammo, so that is no bonus to chrome lining, and unless you are planning to shoot 10 thousand rounds out of this thing, you aren't going to wear the bore out.

So far I am very happy and I think this rifle is the best among the others in the price range. Nothing wrong with a WASR, but the unique touches to this variant and the solid Zastava machine work attracted me to this one.

Buds got the order out very quick after payment was processed. Like usual, the rifle had poked through the Century box, but there was no damage. Almost every rifle I've received from buds has poked through the box, but never seen any damage. I wish they would pad the muzzle, butt, and bolt or charging handle a little better because the delivery guys must be playing soccer with these boxes or something!

Thanks buds, once again after many orders I am a happy customer.

Very high quality for the low price. Mine came with a standard AK type stock, but with the NPAP mounting system. Also came with two Magpul mags.

I was worried about the standard NPAP stock, but I'm very pleased that it was a pretty much a regular stock. Thank you!!

Great service from Bud's, as usual! The rifle was in perfect shape, clean, no blemishes, and no canted sight. What is better, it shoots dead on, 2" spread at 100 yards, iron sights. My sons and I set up frozen water bottles at 100 paces (late afternoon) and blasted them clean off the mounds that we put them on. I can not remember being so excited about a rifle, and I have several.
