Destined to become the standard that all 1911 pistols are compared against, the Taurus 1911 offers you the most accurate and feature-laden model on the market today. Starting with our own hammer-forged -not cast- ordnance grade steel frames, slides and barrels, we machine each and every part to tolerance levels that surpass even today's industry standards. Our skilled pistol smiths hand-fit and tune each gun with the 19 standard features seen below, using quality parts that are built 100% in our state-of-the-art factory. Then they mark the slide, barrel and frame with matching serial numbers. Available in the powerful .45 ACP, this aggressive, rock-solid firearm is ready to go right out of the box. The Taurus 1911 is an unbeatable gun that is also an unbeatable value.

This has been my "trainer" for the 1911 platform. I put wooden handles on it to give it a more attractive look. I've field stripped it 50 times, and lube it with Militech, a dry lube, heated with a hot hairdryer. Since I've broken it in, it is 100% reliable. The "blueing" is a little worn, and I've added some idiot scratches of my own. In short, I've learned to love this gun. I carried a 1911 in the military, and now understand what an icon this is. After shooting it, tighten sights and grips. You'll like this gun.

This is my 5th handgun from Buds very clean and nice to shoot. I usually allow 50 rounds before logging any problems. This pistol did not have any problems no failure to feed, no failure to eject, or any stove pipes. Used army 230 grain ball ammo to loosen up the slide, very successful day at the range When I cleaned the pistol I used my micrometer to measure the frame rails and the slide these were within .001 tolerances, used a feeler gauge to measure the frame rail gaps to ensure that they were also in specs everything measured out all within tolerance I did notice some sloppy machining on the upper part of the frame where the hammer fits into the frame ,some light stoning with a Brownells hammer stone cleaned the marks right up and since it did not create any firing difficulties so be it. This is considered one of the nicest 1911s that I own,no matter what the cost most 1911s will always need some loving care to always come though when you pull the trigger. I have 6 of them and I will never buy anything else. From a custom Caspian 1911 to a Girsan 1911. The 1911-45ACP is the only handgun that special ops still use.

Great entry level 1911. I've run about 500 rounds through it, no problems whatsoever.

Received from FFL and cleaned thoroughly, lubed with FrogLube. 1.st range session with 230 gr FMJ resulted in roughly 1 FTE/FTL per 8rd magazine. Put 150 rounds through for breaking in. Not happy with results.
Cleaned again thoroughly, this time oiled with Ballistol, 2nd rage session, again with 230 gr FMJ showed still the same results, lots of FTE's and FTL's, sometime a mag went through without problems, but still heavily unreliable.Used original Taurus mags which came with the gun. Put again 150 rounds through, so it should hopefully now be broken in, but still not happy with the reliability of the gun. Not sure how to proceed, ammo is expensive to waste it in a gun which probably has to go due to reliability issues. One option might be to send it back to Taurus to get it fixed, but then it will need extensive firing again to prove it can now be trusted... The other option might be to sell it and say good bye to 1911's and revert back to Glocks which have up to now proven to be 100 % reliable without any break in period right out of the box. I like the look and feel of the PT1911, but in the end I also need to trust it. I don't think it is limpwristing, always focus on proper stance and strong grip with both hands, I also shoot .44 Magnums without a problem, so I would think I can exclude this as the point of failure.
