Overall I am not happy with this Colt 5170308 1911 Government Tribute 22LR Rail 5" 12 1 Poly.

I bought it because most of my handguns are 1911%uFFFD%uFFFDs and this Walther/Colt .22LR is advertised as being built to Colt specifications and using standard 1911 parts (except for .22LR specific parts like barrel, slide, etc.).

For those of you who don%uFFFD%uFFFDt know this is not a true Colt handgun. It is licensed by Colt but is made by Walther (actually Umarex).

First problem was the sights %uFFFD%uFFFD cheap and shoddy workmanship. The plastic inserts are small, off color and dim and necessitated drilling out and painting white (with toothpick) to make them usable to me. Worse is the poor workmanship of the sights, the gun arrived with loose sights and when tightened the sights fit poorly in the slide with a large gap between the slide and bottom of sights. The guns POI was so far off I was forced to manually file rear sights and plastic shim them to get them close to being accurate.

This gun arrived with a trigger pull in the neighborhood of 8 lbs. Not a problem for someone who knows anything about trigger work on a 1911 right? Wrong. First the main hammerspring in this gun is non-standard; you can%uFFFD%uFFFDt just buy a reduced weight spring necessitating cutting springs by trial and error until you achieve what you want. By far the worst problem is the non-standard length of the disconnector which is easily .020 longer than any aftermarket standard 1911 disconnector. This is caused primarily from having a .035 gap between the bottom of the firing pin breech block and the top of the frame which requires a longer disconnector to engage the breech block. No aftermarket disconnectors will work in this gun.

I suspect the geometry and placement of the sear and hammer pin holes may be a little off. The hammer strut fits loosely and does not even engage the mainspring cap when not cocked. The hammer strut also is very close to the sear spring and may even touch during recycling.

With the parts I can use, the best trigger pull I could achieve on this gun is 4.5 lbs. and still have reliable operation.

Overall I would not recommend this gun to anyone and would not purchase again.

Nice weapon. The fit and finish is great! Unlike others in reviews, the white dots did not come out of my sights (yet)...the pistol spent a Texas afternoon strapped to my side in a holster while riding my four wheeler...with numerous stops for shooting. They held.

I like the capacity. I also picked up a second magazine elsewhere. My Colt/Walther 1911 is getting a steady diet of CCI Mini Mag .22 LR for the first several hundred rounds before I experiment with any other brand ammunition.

It's an oily critter when you get it. I advise disassembly, then wiping it thoroughly. You would be amazed at how many people don't take this crucial step in breaking-in a new firearm.

Absolutely love this gun. Only gripe is upon shooting it for the first time the white dots on the iron sights fell out after about 30 rounds. would have given it 5 stars but that was a little ridiculous. I managed to fill them in with white model paint though.

I would have given it 5 stars but I hate the mag. Mag is hard to load and has very sharp edges. I shot about 100 rounds of CCI and had 2 jams.
