Smooth transaction from Bud's but somewhat disappointed with the weapon itself.

When I first checked the frame to slide fit, I shook the gun to see of the slide moves and discovered that something rattled in the gun. It turned out to be the trigger, something I have never seen before. It seems to be sitting right and yet it's loose and rattles. Needless to say that I was disappointed. I have several S&W revolvers and they are all top notch and yet this Pro series semi auto gun doesn't meet the quality bar I came to expect from S&W. There a few more minor cons and several positive traits to this weapon, but I waited for a long time to get a 1911 in 9mm and held off until something good came up. It might be a one off but to be this particular gun was disappointing. I know I can send it back for repair but it's a pain to do (expensive, time consuming etc.) so I just put it in the safe for now and I may visit the problem in a few weeks, but for now it's on-hold as far as usage.

Please note that the other review here is a glowing one. It may very well be a one off deal but that's my experience with this S&W semi-auto.

As far as Bud's goes, they are top notch and will continue to be my first stop for guns and accessories.

I have several 1911's, including two in 9mm - one 3" and one 5". I've been wanting to get another Government 9mm but the only ones better than what I already owned are from custom shops and very expensive. I've read a few reviews about the Smith & Wesson Pro 9mm and every one was very good. This pistol is all that and more.

The finish is top notch, and the frame and rail are very nicely matched. It has a full length guide rod and doesn't need an Allen wrench for disassembly. Aesthetically the pistol has nice touches, with black safeties and mag-release and a black and stainless hammer that complement the satiny metal. The grips are a "digital" design from RoCo and feel natural, while the two magazines that came with it were Wilson Combat. The scalloped slide serrations are the icing on the cake, for me.

Out of the box the pistol performed flawlessly. Priced nicely between an entry-level pistol and one from a custom shop costing twice as much, S&W 1911 Pro shouts "custom." This is an absolutely fantastic shooter and I'll certainly consider getting it's .45 caliber stablemate in the future.
