Perfect out of the box. Amazing action and accuracy. Well balanced and contrary to others, I love the grips.

I really wanted to like this gun so much. After all, it's my first S&W Performance Center gun. But, it's been a major disappointment on several levels. The aesthetics of the grips are debatable - some think they're great, others think they're ugly - everyone agrees that the fit terribly. The top rear corners are sharp and stick out almost 1/8" above the frame just waiting to seriously gouge the hand of the shooter. The rear edge of the grips is raised above the backstrap the with a sharp edge all the way to the top of the frame. I had to wear gloves on the first day I shot it to keep my hand from getting sliced up. There's more - the edge of the grip is thick and square on the left side so the ejected cases tend to get caught on the grips. Since then, I've spent a couple of hours reshaping the OEM grips just to make it shootable. Two friends borrowed it in last Sunday's IDPA Classifier match and both complained about how their hands were sore afterwards. Hopefully, the new Nill grips I've ordered will solve the grip issue.

The trigger is reasonably smooth, I'd expected something a bit lighter than 10.26#. By comparison, my S&W 686 SSR was only very slightly heavier when new at 10.69# and is now 8.77# after a trigger job. The strain screw came loose before 100 rounds had been fired.

The M625-8 S&W N Frame shoots very nice, and cuts one big hole at 21 feet off hand. Very accurate and functions very well. Highly recommend this revolver for anyone shooting IDPA ESR. When i used a M686 and speedloaders to using this gun I went from a 150 second time down to 136 second time. Thats just from using moon clips and this gun for the first time. I am sure it will get better the more I shoot it. Fit and finish are wonderful and the gun shoots more accurate than I can but is my most accurate handgun.
