Very fine 1911 for the price. Tight fit for a production 1911 and accurate. While the slide serrations look overly aggressive on this and the other E-Series 1911's, they are not but still provide a good positive grip. 250 rounds thgrough it so far with the only issue remotely encountered being stiff factory mags.

I have been very picky about 1911's. While I usually do not like any slide serrations besides straight and traditional looking cuts, the use of one of the SW E-Series1911SC models last season in a popular TV show allowed the series to catch my eye. After looking at a stainless model at a local store, I ordered this one from Bud's, and got great service as usual.

The only reason this review only got a 4/5 is because of S&W's Quality Control. I had read prior to purchasing that these series of 1911's had originally been produced in S&W's Maine plant, but production was recently moved to the Springfield, Massachusetts plant, which had led to better QC. After picking up my new 1911TA from my local FFL and gun range, I took it back to the range and fired it. The gun grouped well, but to the left with both myself and my buddy shooting it. When I got it home and began cleaning it, the rear slight slid almost out of its dovetail. It was then I realized that the factory had placed the trijicon sight onto the gun, but failed to install the small set screw into it. A quick call to S&W solved that, as they mailed me the set screw. Tonight though, after the second range trip, I was giving it a thorough cleaning and went to remove the grips for the first time, only to find that one of the grip screws (that require a Torx T-10 sized wrench) is either faulty or was stripped at the factory. This was discovered tonight, on a Friday after hours, so I have out in an email explaining that problem and will hopefully get another screw sent out to me this coming week.

Despite the issues above, I am still VERY pleased with this firerarm, and would definitely recommend it to others.

Like everyone who purchased from budsgunshop.com, I'm very pleased with their easy transaction and fast shipment. This is the first time I've brought a gun online and I couldn't be more happier. This is the first 1911 I've ever own and there is only one word that I can put it "Awesome". I've have shoot a couple of different S&W 1911 model, but this one by far is my favorite. Took it out to the range last weekend and 10 yds away I was able to put a group of 5 shots in 1" less. And my wife who haven't shoot a gun before, put a group of 5 shots in 2" grouping. The gun work great for the both of us, no failures for either one of us. In fact she like it so much that we are going to shoot again this weekend. And you can't beat budsgunshop price for this amazing gun. I'm diffidently coming back here for further gun purchases.

First off I would like to mention what a great buying experience I had with Bud's. This is my 3rd purchase off this website and I am as pleased as ever. I really appreciated the fact I can use the layaway system, it gives guys like me who are not holding huge bags of cash the chance to purchase quality firearms. I had been looking for first 1911 and I had very specific st of criteria that it had to meet. It had to be American made, it had to have a tac rail, and it had to be high quality. When I saw this E series 1911 pop up on buds I put it on layaway that second. Finally, after almost 90 days I paid it off and it was at my house 2 days later. As always, fast shipping. When I open the box i was not disappointed; the weapon has so much more class than most other 1911's I have seen. The scalloping on the slide, knurling on the handle and the hammer that is black top and bottom but polished on the sides were just bonuses to an already precisely milled frame and slide. After stripping and inspecting it, i headded off to the range. I fired a total of 350 rounds of Winchester and Sellier Bellot target rounds without a hiccup. The trigger is smooth, the night sights are bright and the action is like butter. I am very happy with this purchase.

Let me start off by saying this is my first 1911. This is the first 1911 I have ever shot. It is an awesome gun. Keep the price in mind and realize that it comes with just about everything you could ask for in a modern 1911. It's a beautiful gun. It is accurate. I use TULA ammo (.45acp 230gr.FMJ). It functioned flawlessly. There were no faillures to fire, feed, or extract. I shot just under a 1" group at 10 yards. The fit and finsh are excellent. It's comparable to the Dan Wesson Specialist. Bud's shipped the gun to my FFL within 2 days as guaranteed. I'm not a 1911 expert/ aficionado, but I bet you could do a lot worse if you putting down this much money on a gun. You're getting a whole lotta fun and gun for the money. It's not perfect by any means, but it's a hell of a start for a 1911 in its category.
