Best enntrt level savage , can be built into a great gun. Or keep as is and have a basic accurate hunting gun.

fit and finish are nice but i have had numerous FTF. almost every time i loaded the mag, a round would catch up just above the chamber. ended up feeding one round at a time because the rounds just would not feed. this was my first new production bolt action so maybe there is a bit of nuance involved in throwing the bolt; i am used to Enfields which, needless to say, function flawlessly. i have read good reviews on savage rifles so i will give the rifle a chance but so far not so happy.

Great rifle for the price and one of my favorites to take to the range! However, you get what you pay for. The rear buckhorn sight made for slow front sight acquisition, so I upgraded to the Skinner 860 aperature sight. It drives tacks up close and consistently (9 of 10) hits an 8" target at 100 yards. The bolt hits the rear magazine feed lips unlike my other Savage. Also, the magazine capacity shown is incorrect, the manufacturer states the capacity is 4+1. Like I said, great rifle for the price and as always, Buds was easy to deal with.

Just got mine in today. The stock is just as bad as everyone else stated but being as this is what I'd call a working mans rifle it doesn't bother me at all. The sights come on target very quickly but I had already made up my mind when I ordered it and took them off and installed a 3-9 Burris full field. What this gun lacks in beauty it sure makes up for in its accuracy. I was shooting 1/2" 5 shot groups right after sighting it in at 100 yards. But what really amazed me was that when I put it in my 11 year old sons hands that he shot a 3/4" group with it. Looks like I lost this gun and will have to order me one now. Thanks Buds for the great service and value.

I am giving this product a 3 star review. For the money this is a very nice rifle. That being said, this is no where near the quality of my Savage Model 12 or Model 10. I don't like the magazine and how it feeds on this rifle. My magazine has problems with rounds sticking in it and not loading when you bolt the rifle. I also did not like the fact that the rear sight was off the rifle when I received it. Where the sight had become detached left two rather large scratches on the barrel as well. Accuracy is good with 55 gr fmj, but it is excellent with 62 gr soft tip. My rifle did not like 50 gr polymer tipped ammo. I believe this ammo was too light for the 1:9 twist ratio.

I am very impressed with the accu-trigger and the accuracy of this rifle as I get sub-moa all day long with it. Now the bad. Factory stock is horrible, the rifle is heavy and I had to chase the factory 1/2x28 threads to get my suppressor to thread onto the rifle. Knowing what I know now, I would purchase this rifle again, and I'm considering buying the .308 version from BUDS when my .30 cal suppressor is approved. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of buying a weapon from BUDS, REST EASY!!! I've bought a lot of guns online and this has been by far the EASIEST AND PAINFREE TRANSACTION I HAVE EVER HAD! Never found another dealer who keeps an online database that a customer can choose to have sent to a local FFL without having local FFL going through process of sending a copy of license. BUDS is a class act whose customer service is second to none.

Very pleased with this rifle. A couple of things to note if you're thinking about buying one: - in .223, it has a 1-9" twist. so it'll shoot the 64-69 g bullets. - does not have the accustock, has the old-style savage tuppeware stock. very flimsy, but hey, i like the green. - accutrigger came out of the box in my example at 3.25 lbs with no creep. - it's cheap. barrel to stock fit is sloppy, although it is free-floated. barrel doesn't sit straight in the channel on my example. if this is gonna bother you, don't buy the rifle. or buy it and expect to replace the stock. - has old-style bolt release and blind magazine. easier to find aftermarket stock for this setup than the newer bolt-release-on-triggerguard models. - barrel length and weight on this gun is RIGHT for me. 20" barrel with a medium contour that is lighter than the savage varmint contour, but heavy enough that it gives the rifle decent balance without a muzzle-light whippy feel. just to reiterate, it's cheap. if you're gonna get in a huff about the stock being flimsy, or a barrel being slightly askew in the stock, don't buy it. plunk down another couple $100's and get something else. if you don't mind, and want a heavier-contour barrel rifle in carbine length that shoots and carries great for a good price, go for it. i personally think this rifle is more what a savage should be. this one will shoot as well as one of the $700-1000 models, and it's about half the price.

Just received my Savage Model 11 Hog Hunter in a .223 cal. and I am really pleased with Buds and will use them again in the future. The Savage is exactly what it is advertised for, it a solid woods carbine that will definitely take being thrown around without worry. Being an old Marine I love the fixed/adjustable sights. I have also put a pitanary rail on it with a Nikon P-223 scope. I put high setting see through rings so as to be able to use the iron sights for close in hog hunting and will be using Winchester Razorback 64 gr. Now to go fire it and zero things in. I'll get back to you on that later. Semper-Fi

Hi, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but the 1/2 X 28 threads with thread cap would not come of. Finally got cap of and now threads are ruined. Going to ship it back to Savage and I am sure they will make it right. Nice rifle good price.
