Very solid smooth well made action. I also really like the large bolt handle, and the iron sights for back-up. Its a nice set-up with a quick release scope. Accuracy is good (1"MOA @100yrds). BUT the stock is not up to the task. The fore stock is too thin and flimsy for a heavy barreled action in 308. Made it difficult to manage the recoil and make good follow up shots. I replaced it with a Hogue Overmold (full bed) which has a nice beefy fore stock, but it added over 50% to the price. Savage probably could have provided a decent stock for another $25 or so. Tough to rate this one. Action/barrel=very good. Stock=bad so I guess in the middle.

I agree with previous poster jimmy a on the value of this rifle. The features rivals much more expensive rifles, and it is a very cool little rifle. I received mine last friday, and promtly took it out to the range. Open sited at 25 yards I shot about 2" groups using Winchester 147 gr FMJ, which I thought was pretty good since I couldn't really see the target. I personally will be removing the fixed sites (even though I think they look great) because I will not be hunting with them. The reason I will take them off, and something you cannot really tell from the stock photos, is just how tall the sites are on this. I don't think I could find a set of risers that would see over them, and if I did it would look ridiculous. They are made for shooting over a suppressor, and I am sure they are great at that, but I will not be taking chip shots on the open plains of Kansas. Once they are removed, the rifle really reminds me of the Remington model 700 SPS, but about $200 less. Oh, and the Accu-trigger rocks.

Best kept secret on the market right now. Heavy barrel already threaded, oversized bolt handle and accutrigger make this gun worth every bit of double what its going for. The stock is the only cheap part of the gun, which is easily replaced. I chose to keep the original stock on mine because its light and will get abused hunting. I glass bedded the action and it shoots as good or better groups as my Remington 700 target gun. I ordered another in 223.
