BERETTA USA CORP
Model 92A1 Semi Automatic Pistol

The Model 92A1 represents Beretta's evolution of the world famous 92FS
pistol. Combining the best elements of the 92FS this pistol features a
higher magazine capacity and is completely interchangeable with any other
92 family magazine. The A1's frame includes an integral Mil-Std 1913 rail
for attachment of tactical lights and laser aiming devices. Internal recoil
buffer increases service life by reducing stress on the receiver. The
single one piece captive recoil spring assembly simplifies the assembly and
disassembly process and minimizes the possibility of spring loss. Three
magazines included per pistol.

Over 1500 flawless rounds through this gun so far. What more can you ask for? Accurate and ridiculously easy to take apart. This was my first handgun purchase and was a great choice. Yes it is big and heavy, but is built to last and hardly any recoil. Highly recommend.

its a beretta. need I say more?
well I probably should. it was perfect, right out of the box. no scratches, no oversprays in the finish. a little excess oil, but all parts function nicely.
I have not fired it yet, but I plan to tomorrow. I am currently waiting for the feds to okay the other item I ordered so I can go shooting with both.
as for the shipping, the turnaround from my order date to it arriving at the ffl was much faster than the last time I ordered from buds.
I guess they liked my echeck better this time, I dunno. even if I never get the chance to fire the beretta, it is like a work of art to me, and I couldn't be happier with it.

First of all, hats off to Bud's service. Great price, easy ordering, and quick delivery of this "not necessarily commonplace" item. Five stars to Bud's for sure!! Not my first order with them, and certainly won't be my last.

Now, on to the gun. You can troll the internet and read any number of whiny complaints bemoaning this gun's size, its lack of concealability, the fact that it's "only" a 9 mm, the fact that it's hammer-fired and not striker fired, etc. Well, let me set the record straight...if there's a finer full-size 9 mm pistol on the market, I've yet to find it.

PROS:
- This thing is built like a tank! Rugged, solid, and durable. While I definitely tend to "baby" my guns, I've had friends that have put their 92s through all nature of abuse. Dropped onto concrete, dropped into mud, left outside in the sub-freezing cold, even run over with a jeep (don't ask...) I've seen 92s take all of this and still come back for more. Scratches? Dings? Sure...but never once have I seen damage to the mechanics or structure of the weapon itself, and CERTAINLY no damage severe enough to affect operation.
- The 92A1 is the DEFINITION of reliability. I've cycled everything from Hornady match grade to the cheapest, dirtiest Russian bulk through this weapon - it's digested them all and never failed to come back barking fire when asked. Over 3000 rounds through it and not a single FTF, FTE, or stovepipe.
- Comes with three beautiful blued steel 17-round magazines
- The solid construction of the pistol leads to minimal felt recoil, improving shot-to-shot accuracy and minimizing barrel drift
- The 92A1 is DEAD ON accurate, even right out of the box.
- The grip radius, while large, is far from uncomfortable, and lends istelf to easy one-handed operation (and this coming from a guy who wears men's size M gloves.)
- Accessory rail for lights/lasers
- The 92A1 is a gorgeous pistol to look at...beautiful lines and curves, much like an Italian sports car.
- Operating action is like a dream. The slide cycles smoothly, the spent casings eject and clear - but not violently or erraticly, and the trigger pull is smooth with an easily discernable reset.

CONS:
- The solid construction comes at a price...this thing is HEAVY. Take another look...yep, almost two pounds unloaded! After a long day at the range, you'll definitely feel it in your arms and shoulders!
- There seems to be a lack of holster options for the 92A1, and the A1 will not fit in the majority of 92 holsters due to the accessory rail and differently shaped trigger guard
- Back to the grip...comfortable? Sure. But not nearly as "ergonomic" as some of the competitors.
- The double action pull on this firearm is LOOOOONNNNNGGGG. Obviously, this can easily be corrected by cocking the weapon, but still...
- The controls (safety, mag release, slide release) are laid out in such a way that it's difficult for someone with small hands to operate them without repositioning the gun in the hand or using two hands
- Some people complain about the plastic guide rod in this firearm. Under normal circumstances and normal use, I see this as a non-issue. After all, a certain Austrian handgun manufacturer has been using them for years without incident
- Similarly, some detractors complain that this weapon cannot be concealed easily. This to me is a "non-issue" as well, as this pistol was clearly designed as a military/duty/range/home defense weapon, not a CCW.

Now I'm far from "brand blind..." I own (and LOVE) handguns by Beretta, Glock, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and Ruger - my CCW is even a Glock 19 - but there's just something about this particular weapon that keeps me coming back to it. So much so that if (God forbid) I am ever forced to use a handgun to defend my home, I'm grabbing the 92A1 and the magazine full of Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain +Ps that I keep close by. The fact that I'm willing to trust my life and the well being of my family to this firearm should stand alone as a testament to its greatness.
