Schofield Patent Revolver - In the late 1860's the U.S. Army was shopping for a breech loading fixed cartridge revolver to replace the aging 1860 Colt Army percussion revolvers. They tested the Colt single action and the S&W Model No. 3 American. The test resulted in the adoption of the Colt single action Army Model of 1873 and passing on the less powerful and more delicate 1869 S&W Model No. 3 American. Because the superior loading/reloading capability of the S&W American was recognized by Army ordnance, in 1875 Major George W. Schofield identified and Patented improvements in the design of the S&W Model No. 3 American and the Schofield Patent Revolver (Model No. 3 Schofield) was born. The S&W Model No. 3 Schofield was greatly improved over the Model No. 3 American. The latch on the Schofield can be operated with one hand while on horseback and empty cases automatically ejected. Considered by many to be superior to the Colt single action when in the hand of mounted troops... The Schofield was definitely produced ahead of its time. The Army purchased some 9000 Schofields but due to a lack of promotion by the maker, one of America's greatest firearms ceased production. The Cimarron Schofield is the most authentic replica Schofield available today.

I love the .45 Cold Round and I have always wanted a break-barrel pistol. This gun is awesome in quality, weight and accuracy. While expensive for what you get, it is such a soft shooter and I enjoy seeing the smile on people's face when I hand it to them to shoot.

excellent product. Fit and finish Iis good. These are made to too close of tolerances to use black powder, but still wanted one.

Love the pistol but had to send it back to the MFG for warranty work (huge forcing cone to cylinder cap - 0.160"). MFR's warranty station did a great job.

Fit and finish top notch. Better than expected. Better news yet it out shoots my gold cup 1911. Better than the original.

Great firearm. The workmanship is excellent, in fact, superior to the usual Uberti firearms. This may account for the high price. It's well balanced, smooth, and easy to clean. I carry it as a conceal carry with a pancake holster from Galco and it lies flat against my body.

I have lusted for a reproduction Schofield revolver for decades; my finances would not allow me to purchase one. A few weeks ago Bud's offered a 5" blued version 3rd Model .45 S&W Schofield, with some color case hardened pieces, for a price I could not pass up. My selected FFL gun shop received my Schofield seven days after I placed my order with Bud's. The revolver was perfect!
I detailed cleaned & lubricated the revolved and my order for two 50 round boxes of 200 grain .45 S&W Schofield cartridges I had ordered from Midway USA had arrived the day before I picked up my revolver from my FFL source. I have run one full box to date, no issues, accurate into 8" bull target @ 10yards, insignificant recoil impulse - a pleasure to shoot.
I'm about to begin working up a safe & accurate .452" 200~250 grain, 750~850'/s self defense load.
Thank you Bud's for providing me with a historically significant American firearm that will give me many hours of shooting pleasure.
Best wishes.
