Mike, The recoil is a great THUMP! This is a high power ammo shooters gun. Hold on and watch your stock cheek weld. Get your shoulder into it. 12 ga 3" magnum slug recoil type of thing.

It is a heavy Thump I don't think is is as bad as the featherlight 300 win mag I had that 6 lb gun was brutal

Same recoil as a 12 gauge pump shotgun with 3 inch slugs. Pretty spicy. This gun comes with a decelerator pad installed.

How does this stack up compared to the Mossberg Patriot 375 besides ammo difference? Quality any info would be appreciated. I'm in market for a 375 caliber and would appreciate info. Thanks.

The Weatherby is definitely the higher quality of the two. It is more refined and polished with a butter smooth action. Definitely an apples to oranges comparison. The Patriot was designed to be a low cost option that will get the job done and just simply won't have the same craftsmanship as the Vanguard. Both would work but, the Weatherby is a couple of classes above the Patriot.

if you want a gun to have pride of ownership in the Weatherby is the choice if you want a low cost tool that gets the job done you will be happy with the Mossberg If you are going to hunt hard in nasty conditions I would go with the Mossberg

You get more than your money’s worth.
I’m old but the open sights are very good. (2 1/2” group at 100 yards using sticks.)
Understand that at 7 pounds 10 ounces, this puppy will talk to you when that crisp trigger breaks.
Overall very happy with Weatherby, this rifle, and Bud’s.

Whole lot of rifle for the money. Well-built and reliable. Perfect function. Out of the box this one has the best trigger of any factory rifle I have owned or currently own - light and crisp. Mounted a Redfield 2-7 in Leupold quick detach mounts/rings. Tested three different loads/bullets yesterday. Same result with all three at 100 yards...3 round half inch groups. This rifle is ACCURATE. And it's in 375 H&H mag. Love it.

The fit and finish is beautiful. The Vanguard is an amazing rifle for the money. The 375 H & H has a stout recoil, that is easily managed from field positions with this rifle. I highly recommend the rifle for someone that is looking for a lot of fire power in an affordable package.

october 2019 i ordered the 375 h&h vanguard. the ordering, shipping, and delivering went very smooth. i pick up my gun at a ffl and went through the regular transfer with no problems.the gun was in excellent shape, couldn't be happier with the total process. i will purchase another firearm through buds again.

This rifle is quite accurate and the stock design handles recoil well.The magazine follower spring could be a bit stronger and care should be taken when loading the magazine to ensure proper feeding.At this price point this is a good gun.No regrets.

The action on this rifle is butter smooth, and the trigger is excellent. Rifles costing twice as much would do good to take notes from this one in those areas. Accuracy was dead on out of the box with every type of ammo I put through it, even the cheap stuff (relatively). Recoil is stout, as is expected, but very manageable. I've shot .300 and 7mm mags that were worse. After a couple hundred rounds, the only time I would say it beat me up a little, is when sighting in from the bench. Granted, I was not using a "proper" rest. Stock had a very nice feel. The high comb is very nice, as are the over molded rubber sections. My only gripe with the rifle, is that the finish rusts very easily. I had it in a case for about a week and I got some major rust on the barrel and front sight hood. I'm not talking a little surface rust that you can just wipe right off, I mean rust! I normally store my guns in my safe, but I've stored plenty of guns in cases for short periods of time and have never had rust like this. It sucks, but I'll deal with it. I'm going to have the barrel coated. Overall, this is a great rifle and I would definitely buy it again, I just wouldn't leave it in a case for more than a day or two.
