Dickinson 212W28 212 Semi-Automatic 12 Gauge 28" 3" Wood Stk Black Rcvr

The 212 Series shotguns comprise so few mechanism parts as possible, which
provides a strong and dependable operation. The Inertia operated system
with rotating locking head shoots all loads from 1 oz. field loads up to 1
3/4 magnum load, including steel shots without any adjustments. The recoil
spring is housed in the fore-end stock, increasing the strength of the
stock and allowing a more elegant grip design.

Rating:   4 of 5 Stars!

This isn't an easy task for me. I am one that always wants the facts as they really are. Often I met people that whatever they have have is the very best. I am not that person, so here goes. My rating is from only having shot this Dickinson a few times. These shots were with the modified choke; shooting both 71/2 and 6 shot, the pattern was excellent at 40 yards for both. A little more kick than a gas operated as you would expect. The balance is very good, shouldering very good and on target. The feeding and expelling the spent was flawless. Not a heavy gun and feels well built. Now for the little down side. Pulling back the bolt to the locking point gave some problems. Upon a couple occasions the release button would not release the bolt. I had to hold the bolt and push the release button while also pushing down the feeding carriage and release the bolt easily. That has to be done with care or catch your finger in the closing bolt. Have not figured the cause of that yet. At this point that is all the down side I have, but I do see this may be a problem at times in the field.
