Our Range Officer® Champion™ is a perfect fit for those looking for a concealable 1911 that won’t weigh them down. While a normal, all steel 1911 can weigh over two and a half pounds empty, the 9mm Champion™ tips the scales at just 31.5 ounces. The .45ACP model weighs in even less at just 30 ounces, thanks to the bigger hole in the barrel. That’s quite a difference when it’s on the hip all day.

While the overall height is the same as that of the Range Officer® Operator®, the Champion™ includes a four inch stainless steel match grade barrel as opposed to the Government size five inch barrel. In the Champion™, we use a bull barrel fitted to the slide that houses a supported ramp to save wear and tear on the frame over time. As a result, we can use lighter weight forged aluminum for the frame. That helps us shave weight for its intended carry mission.
The sights are all business, with a fiber optic up front and a low profile combat sight in the rear that won’t snag during the draw. For recoil control and function, we use a dual-spring assembly that allows us to control precisely the recoil impulse in this smaller package, thereby ensuring reliable function with a minimum of fuss to the shooter.

The Range Officer® Champion™ is available in 9mm and .45ACP. Both models ship with two magazines, seven rounds each for the .45ACP and nine rounds for the 9MM. Even though the Range Officer® Champion™ is smaller and lighter, you won’t have to sacrifice capacity for carry convenience.

The Springfield Range Officer Champion is a pistol that is way above its cost. A very tight, well made and accurate hand gun. I have always been very pleased with Springfield products and the Range Officer is no exception

Firearm arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Runs flawlessly right out of box. 300 rnds. so far, no failures of any kind and accurate. Truly a beautiful 1911 from Springfield. I'm thrilled with it and it was an excellent value at this price from Buds. Once again great service from Buds !!!!!

Buds Gun shop was very helpful in the ordering processing, responsive in emails.
Springfield Armory, RO Champion:
Negative:
This pistol does not have a barrel bushing like most 1911's.
There is a noticeable gap between muzzle and recoil spring guide plug which causes the muzzle end to look like its missing something.
The hole in the spring guide plug for the spring guide rod appears to be oversized and lose.
These three observations give the impression that the pistol was shortened by just cutting off the muzzle by an inch or so.
In a nutshell, engineering of the muzzle end looks sloppy and an after thought.
Positives:
Overall fit and finish of the pistol is excellent with a very nice finish and set of great looking grips (other than the muzzle end)
Fit of Slide, frame and barrel have very little to no slop.
Sites are good and easy to see, but would be better if the rear dots and fiber optic were a little larger in diameter.
The pistol also seems very light in the hand when compared to a full size 1911.
Shooting:
The pistol has a little over a hundred rounds through it now with only a few stoppages due to magazine issues.
This trigger breaks @ 4.5lb and resets with a nice feel and audible click.
Accuracy was acceptable and as expected for a pistol of this nature when shot at 25, 50 and 75 feet
Recoil felt similar to a standard 1911.
No stoppages with supplied magazines.
This particular pistol appears to be a little fussy when using other, older 1911, magazines.
Please keep in mind its still pistol being broke in and the magazine issues may dissipate after the pistol becomes a little more lose.
Overall, Nice looking and shooting pistol.

what a great shooter. now my favorite gun. the only draw back is field cleaning with the hole in guide rod and the tool you need. kind of a pain but can do. the looks, accuracy and weight make up for it.
first time dealing with Buds guns it was awesome ordered on a Sunday received on Wednesday easy process and great service. will order from Buds again for sure.

Absolutely love the gun . It very tight . So kind of hoping it loosens up a bit as I throw some brass out of it . Buds , as usual , makes the buying process soooo easy . But then again , I’ve never had an issue with them . GO WILDCATS !!!!

What a seamless experience, buying to receiving this gun. I've run 15o rounds, RN and HP, through it with no problems. Great product to carry and use at the range.

4 th Springfield,2 no range officer. Fit and finish on springfields is always first class and this was no exception. Ifanything it surpassed my expectation I caught it on sale at$693. Heck of a bargain then when u throw in the Springfield Ree 4 extra mags holster and mag pouch it was a Great deal.

Quintin, The production of the SA ROs by Imbel in Brazil halted in 2014. The N and WW serial number are in pre 2014 run. NM serial ROs were assembled in US with parts from Imbel. All SA Range officers are now assembled in IL.

Hi Martin, the ejector is "Glued" to the frame on the Range Officer as there is no pin slot visible. However, Springfield Field Armory has improved the bonding process compared to earlier versions.
