Sweet shooting pistol! I like it so much I ordered a second one to ensure both my boys inherit one one day.

First, Bud's did a great job on handling this pistol. I used their 180 day layaway to make it affordable, and when I paid it off, it shipped almost immediately! Now to the gun: The SA Mil-spec isn't really "mil-spec" in the traditional sense of the term. I served in the Army back during the era of the 1911 and as a mortar gunner, was issued and had to qualify with a 1911. Unlike many other "opinions," I found the military maintained pistols to be very well built and solid, and I had no problem at all qualifying "expert" at ranges out to 75 meters! Aside from that little missive, this is a modern rendering of the military design, but with improvements most buyers today want, and expect, such as the enlarged and lowered ejection port with relief cut, and the large, bold sights, and last but not least, the stainless steel construction! Still, when first seeing this beauty, it evokes strong images of its military heritage. The gun itself is beautifully finished, and well-fitted. The crossed-cannon logo wood grips really set off the bright finish. All markings are clear and crisp. Function is smooth, no looseness, and trigger pull is near-perfect for a pistol built for combat, or self-defense. The thumb safety has a solid feel with positive movement from off to on - an area that distinguishes top-drawer 1911s from merely average. Bold sights provide for a clear picture for target and range shooting. The gun comes with two magazines, and a second set of black composite grips with crossed-cannon logo, and I can see users opting to mount them for daily carry and save the beautiful wood grips for presentation - this really IS a beautiful pistol! Internally, the frame ramp is perfectly cut relative to the barrel ramp, and that is not excessively beveled which is a good thing since it provides near full case support. Of course this pistol is all-steel, which makes it heavy by modern standards, but it also makes it exceedingly durable and capable of lasting for many life-times. It also comes with Springfield's internal lock, located in the mainspring housing and operated by a small key also supplied. I don't see myself using it beyond the novelty aspect, and it doesn't present any problem with reliable function. As is now common, the Mil-spec comes in a sturdy, grey-colored plastic case complete with foam insert and appropriate cut-outs, and includes a bore brush for good measure! Function with ball ammo has been 100% reliable and accuracy is as expected with no problem putting all shots into a person-sized silhouette at 50 meters! Overall this pistol is an excellent value for the money!

Love this firearm, espically for Veterans who want something that looks like the orginal 1911, without breaking the bank.

Nice handgun. Barely any recoil. Can’t beat a .45 ACP 1911.
