I recently purchased a "Traditions Hawken Woodsman 50 Cal Percussion 28" Blued/Hardwood" from Buds. The fit and finish of the rifle is VERY GOOD. I have purchased several Traditions kit rifles and this factory build rifle looks way better that any the I have built. It makes the 50 bucks you save with a kit look foolhardy. Also the sights on this rifle are awesome. With other Traditions rifles I have gone online to upgrade the sighs. This was not necessary for this rifle. I like it! Service at Buds was great as always and because its a muzzle loader, It shipped to my door!

After just receiving the first muzzleloader rifle I bought at my doorstep today, I have yet to try it out on the field at a private range property. It's going to be exciting, I just know it!! At least I had prior experience with a muzzleloader pistol this year so far. Learning how to use the double set trigger system while conducting a dry fire functions test indoors safely today is a unique opportunity by means of following the instruction manual. The brass accents on the wood stock are rather elegant and the patch spot on the right side buttstock does open up to allow carrying of lubricated shooting patches for round ball ammo. Luckily I chose to acquire this gun in .50 caliber black powder in order to share the same supplies for my Traditions Kentucky Pistol .50 cal BP that I already owned (aside from buying a new & longer brass powder measure for this new rifle), so that's a plus in savings. Hopefully this rifle's sights are already properly adjusted from the factory and ready to aim accurately right out of the box at a later range time & date. Ramrod is sturdy and held by two brass accented thimbles secured to the stock. Bud's did wonderful, and this is technically my third firearm purchase from them so far in 3 years. I'd recommend buying from them again. A++

I purchased this Hawken rifle Tuesday before Thanksgiving and it was delivered the Monday after Thanksgiving. This rifle is beautiful and is a blast to shoot. I have purchased several firearms from Bud's and I was completely satisfied with every purchase . The customer service department is on top of everything and very helpful, the shipping is cheap and lightening fast, and the products are affordable and great. I don't know why anyone would buy firearms from any place else.

The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because there was a DEEP and wide scratch on the trigger guard. It looks like something that happened during the manufacturing process, and I'm surprised it even passed quality inspection. Other than that, the quality is fine. I wish it came with a wooden ramrod, but I'm sure the one it came with is a little more durable. I shot it right after unpacking it. It was a lot of fun! I'm happy with the purchase, other than the quality issue. I was a little disappointed that Buds wouldn't replace the trigger guard, but no where during the purchase was there anything that stated they would, so I can't fault them for it. It's only a $21 part though.

It’s been a couple of decades since I shot black powder. I have a black powder revolver and a Traditions Shenandoah Flint lock. Both guns are fun to shoot but I didn’t have a percussion cap rifle in my collection. I decided to go with a Hawkens because of the history and I can use it on some small coastal deer in this part of the country. I took it out to the range to zero in at 75 yards. Surprisedly the accuracy from a 4 shot group was 4-1/2 inches. I haven’t found any real issues with the rifle. The wedge underneath the barrel falls out occasionally but I found by inserting it from the right side, it corrected the problem. I’m happy with the rifle. I order the rifle on Friday and receive it onTuesday.
