Century once again offers you rare examples of Sino-Soviet cooperation from a bygone era! The Type 53 is a copy of the famous Russian M44 carbine, and like its predecessor is chambered in 7.62x54R. We were able to locate a cache of these carbines where they have been preserved for decades just waiting to be re-issued. Needless to say - these won't be around forever. If you are a collector of Mosin-Nagants, this is a fantastic opportunity to add a hard-to-find carbine to your collection. 5 rd. integral mag. Barrel: 20.25", Overall: 40", Weight: 9 lbs. Condition: Good.

I bought two of these a few weeks ago, and was finally able to pick them up yesterday (stupid 10 day waiting period here in CA).

First one: The stock is bad of course (though still serviceable; no cracks or major chips), but the exterior metal is actually pretty good; better than some cosmolined Mosins I've seen. Some slight surface rust in a couple areas, and minor pitting in one or two few dime-sized spots, even when including the surfaces under the handguards/stock. However, the bore is pretty bad. Quite a bit of pitting all of the way down. I'm thinking it will still be shootable, but I'm going to get some more opinions first. It probably won't be very accurate though. The barrel and stock serial numbers matched, but the magazine floorplate and bolt are different numbers (including from each other). The bolt cycles pretty smoothly. Assuming this one is safe to shoot and at least hits paper at 100 yards, I'll give it a 3.5 out of 5 for the price.

Second one: The stock is also just as "bad" on this one (still usable though). I haven't taken this one all of the way apart like I did the other, but from the outside it appears it won't be too much different from the first one (with regards to rust/pitting); except that the bore on this one is MUCH, MUCH better. Not a perfect mirror, but close. ;-) The crown is also still pretty good on this one as well, unlike the first one that was pretty worn. 5 out of 5 stars for the price.

Overall I'm happy with my decision to buy two of these, and if I had the money I'd buy more.

First of all thank you Bud's for fast shipping. I ordered it just three days ago and got it today. The gun itself is in pretty good shape no rust or corrosion at all. It has alot of cosmoline. The stock is worn but it has no deep gouges or chunks out of it. The packaging could be better the box had a hole in it from the bolt handle going through it but thats not Buds fault. Looks like UPS taped up the hole it didn't cause any damage. I will definately be buying another one very soon. Once again thanks Buds gun shop for a very easy and smooth purchase.

I will not take the chance firing this gun! There is deep pitting on the barrel under the handguards as well as the receiver. The bolt is also rusty and pitted. The Bore is dark and rusty. The stock is beat but doesn't have any cracks. Usually I enjoy a project gun but these were advertised as "good"??? This gun is worth about $60 not $120 ffl fee.

On a positive note all the numbers matched besides the bolt.
