Picked up the rifle from the FFL. They are very slow to contact you when your package arrives, but the woman working the counter at Big R in Santa Fe is fantastic and very helpful. The rifle came packaged very well and everything was there as expected. Buds does a great job of giving you multiple opportunities to purchase firearms which is very convenient. The rifle was in great shape and was exactly what I wanted as displayed on their site. I haven't had a chance to head to the range, but I'm sure next week when I do I will not be dissapointed. Thanks Buds for doing a great job!

Looks good for a mass produced low priced firearm. Shoots fine like my .223,.243 and .308 axis. I don't shoot cross country and this works just fine for the deer woods. This 30 06 makes better groups than my others. I use ammo I make for my Garand. The wood stock is a big step up from the plastic ones. Very happy with it and have already shot it a lot.

What can you say about Savage rifles… they’re flawless in design. I’m a sucker for wood stock deer rifles. I have not shot it yet, but am looking forward to dropping some deer next season.

This is a nice looking rifle. I have a thing for hardwood stock rifles. If you’re looking for an affordable rifle, able to hunt almost, if not all big game in the US, don’t look any further. This is it ! Highly recommended ! From now and on, I’ll buy exclusively from Bud’s !

The Savage Axis 2 3006 hardwood arrived today. The rifle looks good, but the bolt was hard to remove and install and the magazine catch is made of plastic that may brake after a little use. My biggest complaint is the gun was advertised with a factory mounted and bore sighted scope .When I unboxed my gun all the mounting screws and sight rings were loose and the sight was about to fall off. So much for factory bore sighting! I have a bore sight so I can re sight it , but maybe the next guy needed that feature ,after all he paid for it. All in all the rifle is probably pretty good.I haven't shot it yet ,hopefully the scope isn't damaged. Shame on you,Savage, I though you were better then this!

I recently purchased both the 3006 and 270 versions of the Savage AXIS II XP Hardwood Weaver. Both have excellent actions and shoot wonderfully straight out of the box. The accutrigger adjustment complements the value of the weapon. An excellent value for less than $400. I rate it 5 stars. BTDSS Tombstone, Arizona
