A well built and highly underrated revolver. The trigger has lightened up and smoothed out with use and cylinder lockup is nice and tight. Stock grips, while a bit short, are well designed with a small shelf that is well covered by the thumb of the shooting hand, providing great purchase. Taurus needs to focus on their finishes as the black phosphate style finish wears easily. In fact it seems to almost fall off in front of your eyes. Bud's service was once again great.

Overall, good budget revolver. That being said, be aware that Buds has incorrect listings for this firearm. I purchased the blued, not the matte, but received the matte. Turns out Taurus no longer offers the blued version but Buds continues to list the blued version as if still available; not good. In any event, the gun is a good deal for a budget friendly revolver, although this will be last Buds purchase. Between the higher prices, fees for layaway, and misrepresented guns on their website, my Buds days are over, but the gun itself is worth it.

Taurus 856, 6 rd, 2" matte black. Terrific revolver! I am very pleased with this purchase. Taurus firearms has come a long way in recent years and I think this 856 shows it. Very well made with no finish issues (however, the photo shows a shiny blued finish and the gun is only made in Matte). Mechanically, this gun is wonderful. The cylinder timing is perfect. I've fired over 100 rds and hours of trigger practice with safety caps. No issues at all. The double action trigger is heavy, but not overly so. The SA trigger is perfect! Way better than I expected for a gun at this price. clean and light. I formerly had a s+w air weight which was "sewing machine" sweet, but NO fun to shoot! This one weighs in at 23 ozs, which makes it a pleasure. Fine with 158 gr, but most enjoyable with 110's or 125's. It can handle +P's, but that will be my self defense ammo. So enjoyable to shoot that I replaced the exceptional rubber grips with solid rosewood Pachmyers, and now it is beautiful and shoots well. Easy to make bullseyes at 7-10 yds.

I ordered a blued M856 and received a Matte finished one instead. The one I received is poor quality. The finish is already rubbing off.

Bought this as my first conceal carry and it carries well in a pocket holster. Went to the range today as well and as long as you replace the stock springs with Wolff springs its ok, the stock ones are way too stiff. Handles +P well but the manual says don't that that too much!

Purchased this revolver 3 months ago with 2 trips to the range and about 200 rounds put through it. Handled everything I put through it. Accuracy is something I need to get used to due to the fact that this is my first revolver. Overall though it is as accurate as I make it. I would recommend this revolver to anyone.
