Classic is an accurate description for the M17, all highly polished and deeply blued metal with nice wood grips. Pistol functions flawlessly and is extremely accurate. Highly recommend this item for someone looking for an “old school” revolver that will be worth handing down to your kids. Was hesitant about the safety lock but after seeing and using it, would not deter me from buying another S&W revolver. Bud’s service was great, pistol arrived at FFL dealer in a couple of days with no damage or hassles.

Haven't had a chance to go to the range and shoot this gun as of yet. However, this is a hight quality firearm with a nice finish. Probably not quite as nice as some of the older ones but still very good quality. The action is smooth and nice light trigger pull when in the cocked position. Double action is a bit heavy but not unlike other classic Smith & Wesson models I own. I would highly recommend this model for anyone looking to purchase a well balanced, high quality .22 revolver.

This one is a keeper, match ready out of the box, nice finish, empty cases don't hang up when ejecting, great with standard velocity ammo.

Thanks to Bud's I was able to get one of these classic revolvers. I'd been wanting one for a long time. With the ammo shortages and price increases I wanted something that would shoot just about any level of .22 ammo, something my autos won't always do. The fit and finish are excellent with classic S&W lines. Due to the bad weather, I haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet. I have done some dry firing (with snap-caps) and the trigger feels clean and crisp at just under 5# single action. right out of the box. Measured on a Wheeler gauge. I'm sure, as with most S&W revolvers, that it will get lighter over time as it breaks in.

Excellent build, except the thin laminated original grips which I exchanged with a pair of vintage walnut pieces that do better justice to this revolver, also maybe bluing could be a tiny bit better. Smooth trigger and wide target hammer. Works just as a modern K22 which it is. Compared with an original K22 this new M17 works same as good if not better. With upgraded grips there is very little left lacking in function or feeling with an old no MIM, no lock, 5 screws K22 beauty. I am very happy with mine.

Good shooter, ,as good or better than other old model K-22's I have shot. This one lacks the reputation the old ones have but this one sets its own standard. Excellent trigger and action, perfectly timed. Feels good in the hand and will cloverleaf at 25 yard with bulk ammunition on a good day.

The gun's a great gun to shoot and is ridiculously accurate. However the grips are too small for my slightly above average sized hands and the DA trigger is horrible on this weapon (which perhaps will change as I put more rounds through it, but after about 1000 rnds, nothing has changed). If I could do it all over I'd go for a 617, but I'm still thrilled with the gun.
