Amazing rifle and worth the price. Topped it off with a nice Vortex high power scope and this thing can drive nails in at a few hundred yards no problem. Built for a thousand yard shot but haven't been able to test it that far yet. Great quality that you expect from a high end Savage rifle. The trigger is FANTASTIC, unbelievably light (less than a pound) which helps you hit what you want at a distance. Three stage safety is also very convenient feature, especially with the trigger so light. I liked this rifle so much I bought a .308 version as well. My wife and I take them out to the range and can shoot all afternoon. The 30 in bull barrel provides great accuracy and velocity but also adds enough weight to really soak up the felt recoil. I purchased this rifle for my 14 year old daughter to shoot NRA F-Class at 300 and 600 yards. If my reloads work right and she reads the wind she shoots with 98% accuracy. That is means every shot is in the X or 10 ring, besides a couple 9's out of 60 shots for record. It competes against custom rifles that are 3 times the price. Thank you Savage for a great rifle!

JUST PURCHASED THE SAVAGE MODEL 12 F/TR CHAMBERED IN .223 AFTER SETTING MY ZERO AT 100 YARDS I RESET AT 500 YARDS AFTER HOLDOVER. THIS RIFLE PERFORMED BETTER THAN I EXPECTED IN THAT I WAS GETTING 3'' GROUPS CONSISTENTLY AT 500 YARDS. USING 75 GR. BTHP. SAVAGE DID A GREAT JOB ON THE BUILD AND LOOKS OF THE RIFLE BUT THE MAIN REASON I CHOSE THIS MODEL WAS FOR THE HEAVY 30'' STAINLESS BARREL AND THE ACCU-TRIGGER. THESE TWO FEATURES, ALONG WITH THE EXTRA WEIGHT, CONTRIBUTE HIGHLY TO THE ACCURACY. THIS RIFLE WAS ON PAR WITH SEVERAL CUSTOM BUILT RIFLES BEING USED THAT DAY AT THE RANGE I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RIFLE TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR AN OUT OF THE BOX COMPETITION PIECE

Superb rifle even though I can't get the scoring that I get from it's sister .308 version at 300 yards.

Absolutely remarkable rifle. Out of the box, 5 round groups from .236 to .301" using ammo I have loaded for other rifles. Different powders and bullet weights from 52 grain to 80 grain. The 80 grain it did NOT like, 3 different powder charges and no go.(half dollar size groups) Very happy with another Savage tack driver. Load development started for this particular rifle now, let's see what it can accomplish. I'm sure it can shoot better than I. Vortex PST scope 6-24X50. Harris BR1 Bipod.

Very nice rifle for the price. With hand loads, I have only shot at 100 yds, but I have shot as well as a .2" group. My last trip to the range averaged .625" over 5 5 shot groups. I am still very much working on form. In other words I have not reached the rifles maximum accuracy. It has caused a few stares at my targets.

I'll tell you like it is. This is the baddest, most accurate rifle you'l ever get out of the box. My Dad, My uncle and friend have said the same. I've always been a bow shooter and just got into rifles last year because my friends are. Bought reloading gear for the .223. Just about every powder I've tried, I can get 1/2 moa on a good day. The gun will shoot better than me. If I shoot MOA that sucks. This gun is that good. From my Dad and Uncle who have the Varminter low profile and the Long Range predator Varmint, they have all have the same results. We are all pretty new to bench/ftr scene. Only getting better. You won't regret. Also BUDS has the best prices you will find.
