New In Box RUGER 77/44 Compact Bolt Action Rifle, Model 77/44RS, 44 Remington Mag
Caliber, 18 1/2" Blued Barrel, Walnut Stock, Sights and Rings Included

The Ruger Model 77/22 was conceived as an elegant small-game and
target rifle - a smallbore sporting rifle with universal appeal. Its
popularity led to the 77/44, an outstanding choice for hunting deer in
thick cover. Both are uniform in balance and style, and are nearly the
same weight.
Ruger's patented detachable rotary magazine and three-position safety
make it perfectly balanced and easy to load or unload. The Ruger
77/22 Hornet has all of the fine features of the 77/22 and 77/44, and
is ideal for economical shooting at distances of 150 - 200 yards. Its
quiet report and centerfire power, along with a reduced danger of
ricochet, make the 77/22 Hornet the natural choice for varmint and
predator control
The Ruger 77/44 has the perfect combination of stopping power, light
weight, short overall length and low recoil. The .44 Magnum is
excellent for even the biggest bucks you'll come across in brush
country or tall timber. The reliable action and rotary magazine feed
up to four decisive shots.

Ruger makes fine guns and the 77/44 is another great product in the Model 77 lineup. Very accurate and a quality product with excellent fit and finish. I've had no problems and enjoy shooting this rifle. I highly recommend this rifle.

The Ruger .44 mag. is a neat brush gun. I use it in areas where the shots would be a 100 yards or less. It is quality and accurate.

Great gun, had it dialed in within minutes. Bought for Ohio deer gun season, dropped a doe at @200 yards.

Wood, blue steel, 44 Rem mag, carbine size and Ruger; what’s not to like. Plus it’s deer legal in my state. Loaded up with Hornady LeveRevolution and ended 26 yrs of PA hunting with my ‘06. Love this rifle

I really like the rifle. But the accuracy is not what I had hoped for. I tried many different factory ammo with best group around 4 inches at 100 yds with Leupold 3x9 riflescope.

I think this is the 9th firearm I've purchased from Buds...That being said, should say something...I did get a little anxious on the wait for processing but pretty much received the rifle in 10 days as it was shipped 2 day fedex...I work at the County range ( RSO) but haven't had time to fire it yet...This week hopefully when I get over the crud I've had...:-(....Nice rifle , no longer made , slightly over priced due to that ( Buds was the cheapest I found and had the wooden stock available)..But its what I wanted...77/44...All and all, I will use Buds again...If it has an issue live firing I have the lifetime warranty and I'll report back...Dave

I bought this gun mainly because the concept of a bolt action .44 mag rifle intrigued me and I think Ruger makes high quality bolt guns. So after having this rifle for over 6 months, here's what I've got: Pro's: One of the first things I noticed about this gun is that it is extremely light weight and handy. I think it would make a great camp or brush hunting gun due to the fact that you could carry it all day (not to mention 44 mag out of a rifle length barrel is no slouch). Also, the action on the rifle feels super solid (par for the course for Ruger though I guess). It is Mauser-ish in design with a few minor differences. Finally, the walnut stock that came on mine contained some nice grain patterns and pairs well with the blueing on the metal, making it easy on the eyes. Con's: My main complaint with this rifle was that it did not quite measure up to my hopes in the accuracy department. The best I could achieve from prone were 4 inch groups at 100 yards with a 4x Scope and Federal Fusion rounds. With cheaper Remington Green & White box the group opened up to about 6 inches, which was a little disappointing. However, my hopes may have been to high for a pistol caliber carbine and 4 inches is still minute of deer I suppose. My final issue with the gun is that in my opinion, it is a little pricey for what you get. I did not expect this because I consider all of my other Ruger firearms to be great values considering their performance and features vs price. If it was $100-$150 cheaper, that would be a more reasonable price to pay. With that being said, I still like this rifle a lot and I certainly don't have buyer's remorse. If you're looking for a brush hunting rifle or a light weight option to lug around in the back country, but don't plan on doing an precision shooting with it, this could be a viable choice for you.

Great swamp gun, definitely not a target gun but more than accurate for hunting which is what it was made for. Mounted a low power weaver scope on it and it was a perfect hunting package. Used it last fall to take a black bear and a buck, both one shot on the spot kills with Remington soft point, flat point ammo. Shot both of them at aprox. 45 yards. Great little gun! Buds service and shipping was superb!

Unboxing, the box was intact and not crushed. Stock looks good with the stain a little thin in places on the contours. Metal looks good. Nice light coat of oil on all metal parts including the bolt. Surprised the bolt and rings were not in a plastic bag. Overall, fit and finish is very good. Tried to get a dollar bill under barrel but no go, so the bbl is not floated. Popped the rotary mag out with some difficulty. Surprised to find the mag well opening in the stock is not stained or sealed at all. This will have to be done to keep stock from absorbing moisture and warping. I inspected the bore and it was dirty from test firing. I cleaned the bore with wet patches and rust or what looks like rust started to appear on the patches. It took 4 thoroughly soaked patches to get the rust out. Bore is bright and clean now. On to the range. I mounted a 3X9 Sightron SII scope that I had laying around. Ruger gives no torque values in OM for ring screws, cross bolts or action screws (?) I shot 3 rounds to get to zero with some handloads that I had optimized for my old Ruger M44. They shot pretty well to get zerod and then the gun started throwing flyers with this load. I tried several other hand loads and shot a clover leaf group at 100yds with some old Hornady 240grain Silhouette bullets over 23.9 grains of H110. Of course Hornady no longer makes this excellent bullet. I found the bolt to be very "clunky" but up to the task. The bolt handle and knob are small to match the carbine's overall scale and appearance. With the scope mounted as far back as possible for good eye relief at 9X, the bolt handle and knob are almost touching the scope but it is workable. I found that it takes very deliberate and sharp actions of working the bolt to get rounds out of the rotary mag and into the chamber as well as to get the brass to eject properly once fired. The mag was fussy to get out as well but the bolt and the mag seemed to be easier to manipulate as my shooting session progressed. In the end I was a little disappointed with the accuracy obtained thru testing about a dozen handloads with the above noted exception and a couple of sub 2 inch groups at 100yds. I have no idea what this gun would do with factory ammo as I do not intend to shoot any with it as I have found 44mag factory fodder to be extremely hot and extremely inaccurate in anything I have ever shot it in. I have already loaded up 3 other ladder tests to take to the range. I hope to find another good accurate handload with currently available bullets and to take a eastern white tail deer with this carbine in the next month. Cheers!

Thanks Buds I wanted the walnut stock and blued barrel. I don't like the plastic stocks. I snatched this up as soon as I saw it. I can see some 44mag reloading dies in my future.
