I love my Savage rifle. It is scary accurate, I've killed several hogs with it with clean head shots, and the trigger/bolt are silky smooth. I love the round and love the rifle. Thank you buds!

I ordered this rifle 4/26/2017. It reached my FFL 5/5/2017. Everything looked great upon receiving the rifle. I got it home and inserted the bolt. The bolt was very rough sliding back and forward. I removed it and cleaned the bolt and receiver with REM oil. The oil came out with small debris possibly shavings, it was very dirty. After the cleaning I added Hobbs oil to the sliding surfaces of the bolt and receiver. It helped but still had a gritty feel. I inspected the surface finish on the receiver and noticed some deep gouges inside the receiver on the contact surface where the bolt rides. The gouges were deep enough for my fingernail to get stuck in. I then went on to test cycling with the provided 10 round magazine. The mag will hold the 10th round about half way down the magazine lips. It will not fully seat in the rifle with a closed bolt when full. I found that cycling through rounds was very unreliable. I would get through a few rounds and then the rounds would bind inside the magazine removing all spring tension off the top round. The bolt would then slide freely back and forward above the round refusing to chamber it. Other times the rear of the rounds would stay lower than the front again failing to chamber the round. I also found that when this did not happen slow cycling would cause the round to bind at the barrel chamber on the neck of the round. If you cycled fast with authority this usually would not happen. After inspecting the rifle further I found that the recoil lug looked like it had a crack on the outer surface. Possibly just an imperfection from machining. I contacted Buds about my issues and they told me to get with Savage to fix the rifle. I contacted savage and they sent me a shipping label. I sent it to them and they have had it since 5/18/2017. It is now 6/9/2017 and I still do not have a rifle nor an update from Savage. I have since read terrible things about the reliability of the magazines being used in these rifles all over the forums. In my opinion Savage should have never changed the magazine originally used on the older FCPs. I hear nothing but great things about Accurate-mag. I do not want to spend the money on another magazine system to fix a problem that shouldn't be there in the first place. Now the good. The trigger is excellent and the stock is great as well. However that doesn't justify my negative experience and I haven't even shot this rifle yet so cant comment on that. At this point I wish I would have gone a different route...
