This is one of the coolest shotguns that Mossberg makes. It's a Thunder Ranch special edition. This thing rocks. The breacher barrel is sweet. It looks mean. The picatinny rail on the pump arm is useful for mounting a light. The short stock is very useful for using inside the home for bump in the night home defense situations. I love this shotgun. I have been looking for this shotgun for awhile. Availability was the problem, but BudsGunShop had it and I bought it. They sent it to my local FFL and off we went. Took me exactly two hours before it was loaded and three cartons of shells in the past. It handles well, light, responsive and the easy to manage safety is just plain simple. With light target loads, it shoots tight, even and had less recoil than I anticipated. My only complaint with this model is that the forend can be a little rough on the hands if you are a pretty rapid fire guy. All in all, it is a great value and works like intended: hard, reliable and fun to shoot. I bought it for home defense and have every expectation that it will do the job should I need it.

This comes from the factory with pretty much the modifications you'd end up wanting to do a year later with a standard 500. The shorter LOP is just right, the front sight is all you need (and the visibility even in low light is great), and to be honest- the sling is actually pretty good with the good screw-on type ends. If you find the 590 too long or front-heavy, but want a factory-customized 12g, definitely try this out. Great overall balance of features and size. Bud's got this shipped with consistent timing based on my other purchases. Placed on a Monday, arrived on the following Friday.
