Buy with caution. Production has been suspended due to chambering issues. Warranty claims are awaiting replacement parts. Mine has been there for over three months. What a shame because the rifle is accurate.

Beautiful gun, love shooting it. Yes it's a tack driver ! It did have issues when I received it. Failure to extract, failure to eject, and the trigger was faulty. Sent to Savage and got it back in 2 weeks and I haven't been disappointed since. I hunted hogs and cyote this past season with it and had great success. Would purchase again. Thanks Buds!

The Savage model 25 in the 17 Hornet has exceeded all of my expectations!! What a fun rifle to shoot!! Very accurate and being able to watch "all of the action" right in the scope has made it my favorite rifle to take when hunting prairie dogs. I have used it for for over 8 years and shot 1000's and 1000's of rounds thru it. Extremely comfortable to shoot - both the 17 Hornet as well as the thumb hole stock that Savage put on this rifle. Very nice lines to the stock and with a great fit. The Accu-trigger is excellent for a nice light trigger pull. With the trigger pull set very light, sometimes the safety blade needs to be "reset" by lifting the bolt before it will fire. Small inconvenience for a very nice trigger pull. When I first got the rifle, ammo was very hard to get a hold of (non existent) and no brass to be had. I ended up forming brass out of 22 Hornet brass which was a little more work but did just fine. After a year or two, ammo and brass became much more available. It has shot very well with a variety of 20 grain bullets and powders. At only about 10 gr. of powder per round, and 20 gr. Varmint Nightmare bullets from Midsouth Shooters Supply, it makes for very inexpensive shooting. I am now getting to a point where a new barrel may be in order. With well over 10 lb. of powder down the bore, accuracy is now not quite what it was when it was new. Also, the extractor now no longer usually holds the brass long enough for the ejector to fully eject the shell. I have gotten very used to just dropping the mag in order to drop out the empty shell.

While I am very happy with the way that Bud's handled the transaction, I am extremely disappointed with Savage Arms. I won a raffle for a Savage 93R17BTVSS (.17 HMR) which is probably one of the best rifles I ever owned. I decided to step up to a .17 Hornet, and unfortunately went with the high-end Savage model... big mistake! As it turns out, Savage pulled the old red-herring of taking what was a stable platform, and through shoddy engineering, pushed a pathetic retrofit onto the market in a different caliber. This gun is a total POS with horrible feed problems. Sadly, I purchased this right before the COVID-19 pandemic, so there was nowhere to shoot it and find its shortcomings. When range time finally became available, the gun was just out of warranty. Savage refused to honor the warranty, but ever so gratefully offered to look at THEIR failure for a fee. Frankly, I once respected the company, but will never buy another Savage gun again. I hope this helps you, and the best I can say is, caveat emptor.

Savage is a premier American gun maker, make no mistake. This rifle is an example of their engineering and craftmanship with long guns. I chose the "T" model out of preference for this style of stock and was delighted with the fit, feel and workmanship that Savage put into it. The adjustable trigger came set at about 2 lbs which is good enough for my purposes but there was still some additional adjustment available. A Redfield 4-12x40 scope went up top and soon it'll go to the range for sighting it. Dollar for dollar it's better out-of-the-box than some other domestic offerings. I'm proud to own it.

Really like this rifle fit and finish are good. Accutrigger is sensitive by design so if you have problems with the trigger locking up and haven't read the manual, read it before you think your gun is junk and send it back to Savage. It's typically user error or an adjustment issue. Polymer trigger guard and magazine seem cheap but ultimately I believe are sturdy enough and will hold up just fine. Accuracy wise this rifle is a shooter and does not disappoint. Rifle will shoot less than 1/4 groups at 100yds all day with 20gr factory ammo. The CZ and Ruger may have a better appearance but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this little rifle.
