I've now had this shotgun for several years now and absolutely love it. I've fed it some of the dumbest, oldest, and most trashy, and damaged ammo that's been stored in less than ideal ways. It's fed and cycled and shot all that weren't to far gone. It shoots everything I throw in the tube. Ive put about 3k rounds through most of which being higher powered buck, heavy game loads, lots of slugs and military buck since I've had it. Basically if I can get a deal of old ammo to shoot through it I shoot it just because of how fun this gun is at the range. The 590a1 and its beefy barrel beg to be abused. I always deliver. I will keep feeding her everything I find that fits in the chamber.

Outstanding special purpose shotgun. The 590A1 comes with the metal trigger guard, which is a plus, because the polymer trigger guard on other Mossberg models are notorious for busting. I love shooting 00 buckshot through this shotgun.

Great shotgun and tough as nails , Action is not as smooth as my 870 but it is clearly more durable .

Mossberg 590a1, 18.5" barrel, this shotgun is definitely outstanding, there is a significant muzzle rise due to the short barrel, yet very good quality with mil specs. Went shooting the first day that I picked it up and it is a must for a first time buyer. Great stock and rubber padding on it, easy to take apart and clean. Very well worth it and not expensive. Mossberg is great.
