Ruger's Gunsite Scout Rifle is developed with Gunsite, and is "Gunsite Approved" and features the Gunsite name roll marked on the receiver. It has a forward-mounted Picatinny rail which allows for the mounting of modern optics and a built-in, accurate sighting system with ghost ring adjustable rear aperture sight and a non-glare, blade front sight. Patented integral scope mounts, are machined directly on the solid-steel receiver which provides a stable mounting surface. The non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor features a fixed blade-type ejector that positively ejects the empty cases as the bolt is moved fully rearward. The Gunsite Scout Rifle also has a free-floated, cold hammer-forged barrel with ultra-precise rifling, three-position safety, sling swivel studs, detachable box magazine with push-forward magazine release, and a soft rubber buttpad with buttpad spacers. Included are scope rings and three .5" spacers. This model has a 18" stainless steel barrel, black laminate stock, and Gunsite engraved on the grip cap.

Nice rifle, love the size and feel. comes with two 10 round magazines, scope rings to mount a scope in the traditional location, thread protector for threaded muzzle if you don’t like the flash hider, spacers for LOP. Great looking rifle. Buds service was fast and easy.

I'm very impressed with the Ruger Gunsite Scout. The 18" barrel comes on target quickly and the trigger is smooth. I elected to put a scope on mine, but after stalking and harvesting a large bull elk I'm of mixed opinion regarding the need/value of a scope for this particular rifle. I really like this gun and I'm pleased with my purchase. The manufacturer advertises this firearm as the rifle to own if you could only own one. I tend to agree. The rifle is reliable, rugged, maneuverable, and chambered in a caliber that is suitable for a variety of game. Bud's provided impeccable service as usual.

This is my third Ruger Scout Rifle-- do I really need to say more ? As far as my experience with Bud's , the price was right , received the rifle in two days in perfect condition , and Bud's customer service is the best kind of all , I have never needed it . I place my order and in a few days it arrives at my chosen FFL and I pick it up . They make online buying easy .

Love this Ruger scout rifle. I was looking for something easy to handle in any weather situation. Stainless and laminate make sense on this rifle. It's light, easy to handle, and fires a nice .308 round. The bolt action is smooth and functional. Another seamless transaction through Bud's and my local FFL.

The best all around rifle I own, and one of my favorites.

I had heard about the Gunsite Scout and after researching, I made my decision quickly. What a nice rifle. I love every aspect of it, including the unique wood stock. I found the rifle is very comfortable and there was no problem in sighting it in. I feel I got a great deal on this rifle and look forward to the next hunting season. The only thing I can say is that I purchased a great weapon and wish to thank Ruger for another job well done.

just excellent shooter. accurate, good trigger. iron sights work but a long eye relief scope is the ticket on this gun. finish is good, though I wish they hadn't blasted the inside of the receiver where the bolt rides. it made for a rough handling bolt until I stoned and used some fine wet or dry paper to smooth it out. all that done and its as smooth as glass now.

I've been eyeing scout rifles for a long time as the concept just sunk in with the way I shoot and finally getting some experience with a couple scout set ups made me want one even more. I mean years of looking at Steyrs, M1A scout squads, the Savage scout, Mossberg and always Ruger's Gunsite Scout. Finally decided it was time and saw that Bud's had the 18in stainless laminate wood model brand new for a great price I finally bought one. I am absolutely thrilled with this rifle. I'm a couple hundred rounds in and she feels great. I love the irons but my strap, scout scope, rings, swivels and flash hider will be here on a couple days. I don't mind the muzzle break that came with it but I wanted the silencer acceptable flash hider from AAC for when the hearing protection act gets passed. Also I was thrilled to find out that my rifle came with two 10 round polymer magazine's instead of 1 metal. So now I have three 10's and one 5. It shoots like a dream. She's a thumper with surprisingly light recoil. I have big, long term plans for her. This is my rifle, until it's my son's.

Layaway and transaction with Bud's went very smoothly. Shipped quickly as promised. The rifle was cleaned and inspected and I was not able to find any flaws in craftsmanship. Shot with sights first and was close enough not to have to adjust. Went thru semi break in process with various types of ammo with overall satisfactory results. This rifle is 1 moa with Hornady Steel Match bullets... Sure there are other good quality ammo that will work well, just haven't found them yet. Overall very pleased with rifle with only regret being too pricey to buy another one... Disappointed with Ruger because they won't let you buy the muzzle brake they have on the synthetic stock model(only if you own that model can you buy the brake as a replacement). So if you prefer to tame the recoil a little bit, you will have to stick with an aftermarket variety muzzle brake... Listen up Ruger... That is a bogus policy... Nonetheless... it really is a nice rifle and worth every penny... If they ever come out with a 7.62x39 model I would buy that one also

This is a great gun. Have only put about 50 rounds through it, but for a .308 the recoil is light. Plan to remounta new rscope on it. I comes with rings specific to this gun, but the scope sits over the breach and is fiarly close to the bolt as you draw back Plan to get a different scope with greater eye-relief so it can be mounted on the Picatinny rail forward of the receiver. I definitely recommend this rifle as Ruger always seems to get it right.
