RUGER & COMPANY INC 308 Rifle
Ruger 5601 SR-762 SA 308/7.62 16.12" 20+1 Syn Col 6pos Stk w/3 20rdMag Soft Case
The Ruger SR-762 brings the downrange authority of the .308 cartridge to
the popular SR-556 family of two-stage, piston-driven, AR-style rifles. The
SR-762 is a lightweight, quick-handling carbine that is an ideal rifle for
those who appreciate the familiar and ergonomic AR-style platform. The .308
Win/7.62 NATO cartridge is perfect for hunting medium and most large-sized
game and enhances the capability of the AR-style platform in defensive or
tactical roles. The SR-762 retains the features of the original SR556 that
make it a solid performer among AR-style rifles. It comes with a Manganese
Phosphate/Hardcoat Anodized finish and a precision-filed, chrome-lined,
cold-hammer-forged MilSpec 41V45 chrome-coly-vanadium steel barrel. It
comes with a round, smooth-sided Ruger Lightweight Adaptable handguard with
flattop receiver that features a Mil-Spec 1913 Picatinny rail. It also has
a Hogue Monogrip pistol grip and comes with three 20-round Magpul PMAG
magazines, a soft-sided case, and three finger-grooved rail covers.

Purchased new from BUDS to my FFL. Flawless transfer process. But that is where the problems began. On the square range for a test fire session the rifle shot with no issues, until the AAC 762 suppressor was installed. Then the POI shifted radically off the paper at 25 yards. Bore sighting with the suppressor on it was immediately apparent that the bore axis was shifted left as there was the ominous 1/8 moon shadow on the right side of the bore exit. The assumption was that the suppressor or its compensator mount were off, so back to AAC went the suppressor and comp brake. AAC re-cored and replaced all internals of the can and sent an new "checked" comp/brake. Same issue though, the axis of bore was off at the end of the barrel. Took the rifle to a gun smith who determined it was the threads of the barrel. More problems developed at the tactical carbine courses and special shooting situations comp I attended with the rifle. Total number of rounds fired in the tactical courses and comp was 750. Number of jams recorded was 18. The jam occurs when inserting a new mag, with or without the 'less than two round max' protocol. You will insert the mag and seat it, and then when you attempt to operate the charge release the action will not budge. This is a worthless POS rifle. 100% unreliable and the fact that the threads of the barrel lack correct concentricity is the icing on the cake. Ruger succeeded in making a rifle for the average American that can't appreciate and/or afford rifles that are truly well made and truly function properly. Only the jokes on us as Ruger is now charging a premium for this worthless fishing weight of a rifle. If all you are doing is shooting on a square range and not putting the rifle through its paces at a tactical, or mouting can, you have no idea what this rifle will or will not do, and a nasty surpise is likely awaiting you . . .

It was all that I thought it would be. First Buds buy. After close to 1000 rounds, no issues. Fun to shoot. Very accurate iron sights. Small kick for a 7.62. Not my old M-14.

Purchased my SR762 in January after months of research. Priced it from Many other sources both internet and brick and mortar stores. Bud's price simply could not be beat! Love this Ruger, other than the trigger. Can't for the life of me figure why Ruger doesn't use better triggers. I have a SR556 and replaced the trigger in it after the first trip to the range. I haven't had any of the other problems. Magazines (P-Mags) cycle well. Has all needed rails and covers. Bud's system works flawlessly. Had it shipped to a FFL that was close to my location. The transfer process was quick.
I will us Bud's again. All purchases now are compared against Bud's. The purchase and shipment was quicker then I thought it would be. If you plan a purchase, do yourself a huge favor and look at Bud’s and see if they have the item you are considering.
