2015 brings the launch of the first pistol made in the USA that bears the CZ name. The CZ 1911 A1 is an homage to the past, a 5 government sized model built as a modern incarnation of the original 1911 A1. That original was adopted into US service in 1924, improving on John Moses Browning s original design. This version makes several small improvements as well, swapping the checkered plastic grips for checkered walnut, adding serrated slide stop, magazine catch and mainspring housing and using a stainless steel barrel. For the sake of the shooter, it was elected to forgo the lanyard loop, and added a taller set of sights that are easier to use, with the front dovetailed in so that it can be swapped more easily. Though there are a number of changes, the CZ 1911 is still true enough to the original service pistol to wear the A1 name. Built with much tighter slide-to-barrel and slide-to-frame tolerances than vintage models, the result is much improved accuracy without compromising reliability. Built without a trigger safety, the trigger itself is aluminum, with pull specified at 5 lbs., give or take a pound. Its forged carbon steel frame and slide are finished in a black oxide and it ships with two 7-round magazines.

This pistol is just as beautiful as my 1918 WW1 Colt 1911. The fit and finish is perfect as any Dan Wesson 1911.

Unlike many others, I will respect Bud's wishes and limit this review to just the gun, and not my interaction with Bud's. This is a great example of a full size GI 1911. The gun is very accurate and the fit and finish is tight. I had some issues in the first 50 rounds, but have not had any reliability issues in the next 150 that I fired, so this is likely just a break-in issue. Incredible value for a gun that is built in the Dan Wesson factory. These are no longer in production so I would highly recommend grabbing one while you can.

Buds buying experience and customer service needs no review. The 1911 is unbelievable, fit and quality as you'd expect from CZ specs and Dan Wesson built. Need another!

I recently purchased my CZ 1911 A1 from Buds. and am very impressed with its features, quality parts, black oxide finish, and attention to detail. After a thorough cleaning and lubing, I fired 140 rounds of standard box 230gr. fmj ammunition. I used 6-7 different manufacturers magazines. All performed well with zero negative issues. At distances between 10 and 20 meters, the accuracy was very good and groups were consistent. As advertised this pistol is indeed "tight", but not to its detriment. The only issue which seems to be common among new owners is both the thumb safety and slide stop are excessively tight. Not a show stopper but hopefully will be addressed on future runs. The Hogue grips are excellent as are the 2 Check-Mate 7-round magazines. I truly feel that as an owner of several 1911s, many of which I purchased from Buds, I got a super value. I highly recommend this pistol and you'll probably get the best deal here at Buds.

I recently bought a CZ 1911a1 from Bud's after having some time to check it out I thought I might do a reveiw. After I got it home I was able to really look it over here are some of it's features. It has large .125 sights with the front sight being dovetailed and contoured to match the ark of the slide.The ejection port is lowered, the ejector is extended, the stainless steel barrel is throated for JHP. The mag. well is beveled and the Aluminum trigger is smooth faced with a overtravel screw, the slide stop, mainspring housing & safety are serrated. The finish is matte black overall quality is excellent and this is by far the tightest fitting GI style 1911 that I know of. Looking at the parts only the mag. release and grip safety look to be cast the rest all have the marks of being machined from bar stock. Fuction so far is great with no problems, it comes with two new Check Mate brand 7rd mags. but I have tried Military Surplus Check Mate mags from the 1990's and Seymour Products mags. from 1960's and it works well with both. CZ really has a winner with this one especially at this price point the only other GI style 1911 that is even close to this one in terms of overall quality and amonut of bar stock parts is Colt's Series 70, but the CZ has the edge. If you are looking for a straight up GI style 1911 or one to customize the CZ 1911a1 will be a excellent choice. Bud's serive was great as always
