The Colt 1991 Series is a direct descendant of the original Colt M1911. A long trigger, flat mainspring housing and original style recoil spring system remain from the original M1911 design. Upgrades from the original include white dot sights and a lowered ejection port for extra reliability. It still remains the standard that many try to imitate, but no one duplicates. Nice older classic style 1911. Spur hammer. Easy controls. 9mm is easy to shoot and very little recoil. Nice checkered stocks. Overall a good shooter and nice package.

In a word: "sweet". I chose the 9mm vs. the 45ACP as I have a Colt Commander BB gun and loved the 1911 feel and handling. But, BB's are not the same as real ammo.....so, the interest in the Colt Govt 9MM. The use is just for casual range shooting as it's too large for me to use for concealed carry. The trigger pull is 6 lbs. The trigger is crisp and the reset is short. The recoil is low (as expected compared to a 45ACP) and therefore the best word to describe it is : "sweet". The downside: 1911 field strip for maintenance. If you are thinking of getting a 1911, review on YouTube or otherwise the procedure. It's not that difficult, but not as easy as non-1911 models. This "puppy" is highly recommended and, by the way, nice to look at.

Liking this new Colt a lot. The stock photo does not do the finish justice, it's a classy lookin' gun. In 9mm, it's a cheap date at the range and is proving to be a better shooter than I expected. It's not built quite like my Les Baer or Dan Wesson, but for the price I got it for at the time I could care less. No problems with the factory mags, and no problems at the range. Just works great out of the box. If you like basic 1911s, this one is hard to beat.

It seems as though every manufacturer of firearms has introduced their own version of the esteemed 1911 classic, and each of them look and feel a little different from all the others. This is one of Colt's less expensive 1911's, yet it is hard act for the competition to beat. Even with your eyes closed, all you have to do is cock the hammer, and you know perfectly well that you're holding a Colt in your hands. Crisp firing, smooth ejection, and perfect balance. In the 9mm, it's also less expensive to shoot. Highly recommended.

Excellent 1911. I also have the Rock Island GI 9mm and the Colt is just higher quality in every possible way. The blued finish is nice. The only downside I see is the polymer mainspring housing that is easily replaced and my gun was blued but came with factory Colt stainless magazines. Colt must have been out of blued magazines that day.

I am very pleased with this hand gun. I have shot at least 500 rounds through it now with no problems. The 1911 in 9mm is very pleasant to shoot.
