Kel-Tec's small, lightweight P-11 has perceived recoil and practical accuracy comparable to much larger guns. Its barrel is made of SAE 4140 Ordnance steel, heat treated to 47 HRC. The slide is also 4140 steel. The rectangular frame is machined from solid 7075-T6 aluminum and houses the firing mechanism. The trigger connects via a transfer bar to the hammer and operates in Double Action Only. The hammer is driven by a novel free-floating extension spring. The light weight firing pin transmits the energy of the hammer to ignite the primer. The functioning of the mechanism surpasses all applicable SAAMI safety standards. It has an ultra high impact polymer grip, made of DuPont ST-8018. The grip also forms the magazine well and the trigger guard. It is supplied with a 10-round double column all steel magazine. The P-11 is available in a black parkerized or blued finish with a 9mm 10-round magazine.

My favorite pocket pistol to date.

Pros.
Easily concealed, this gun is very small ideal for conceal carry
High magazine capacity, with a 10 round stock and 12 round aftermarket magazine, this is one of the highest capacity pocket pistols I know of.
A bargain at 250$
Double action only means this gun WILL NOT fire unless the trigger is pulled
Accurate to about 10-15 yards, don't expect to be making long shots with this gun because it simply isn't meant to.
Lifetime warranty through kel tec

Cons.
No safety, so holster or trigger plug IS REQUIRED.
Double action only means that the trigger pull is a bit hefty and long, but in some ways a good thing due to lack of safety.
Like with all larger caliber pocket pistols the recoil on this can be a bit snappy.
Lifetime warranty only applies to first owner

Closing thoughts
I am leaving this review after running 200 rounds of target ammo through without any failures. I highly recommend this handgun if you want personal defense and are on a budget like myself.
However if you have the money there are better pocket pistols out there.

This is my first experience ordering from Buds, and it was great! No problems at all. Picked up my Kel-Tec P-11 today and it was perfect also. I can't wait to put some rounds down range with it. Great experience, thanks Buds!

I got this weapon earlier this year. Shipping was fast; Buds is the best, as always.
I love this weapon and it is the first gun I've ever "forgotten" that I was carrying. I shot 150 rounds the first time I took it out, and I think I had maybe 2 FTF malfunctions related to me riding the slide a bit to chamber a round--my own fault of course, but the recoil springs are pretty stout in this thing. Once I got used to operating it properly, it has functioned without problem. Recoil is as expected for a compact gun; I probably wouldn't elect to shoot the thing all day long, but an hour at the range is doable.
The trigger is long and heavy, but it is manageable with practice or presumably if you are experienced with DA revolvers. The sites are perfectly adequate for what the gun needs to do--polymer 3-dot. The decent sites, long trigger, and sharp recoil make for a weapon that has adequate accuracy. Nothing spectacular here.
There are more accessories and holsters for this gun than I would ever use, but I know that is important for some people. I ordered two 12 round mags from Buds, and they work fine. The 10 round magazine that is shipped with the weapon works perfectly too, but it rattles a bit when loaded. Smacking the left side of the mag on my palm seems to solve that issue.
The finish is ho-hum, but then again, I bought this gun to drag with me on the trail, on my bike, or whatever, getting sweaty and dirty but working if I need it to, and that's what it does.
As I said, the P11 is easy to conceal. It's probably too thick to conceal well in a pocket of anything other than a jacket but It rides IWB well in just about any position I've put it in. Some people don't like the belt-clip idea, but it's a nice option for the days I don't wear jeans and a belt. I haven't really decided if I like carrying it that way, but it is an option.
To me, the P11 is a workhorse. It's not pretty but it does its job--and I don't exactly want people to see it anyways. In the event it falls into a river or gets stolen from the car while I'm in a gun-free zone, I'll be upset, but at least I won't be losing a precious heirloom.
When considering this weapon, one must weigh what is important to them. I wanted light, inexpensive, and compact weapon in 9mm that functioned well, and the P11 fit the bill nicely with a bonus 12 1 capacity. If you want a more aesthetically pleasing or accurate weapon, there are better options, but not in this price range. The P11 is a quality gun that would have a place in my safe amongst its more expensive peers if It weren't always on my waist.

I%uFFFD%uFFFDve owned my P-11 for a little over a year, and it%uFFFD%uFFFDs a good pistol for the money. This gun is designed to be a relatively inexpensive concealed carry pistol. As with anything, some tradeoffs have been made to meet that goal. If you want to use it for other purposes, it may perform well enough, or you may be disappointed. Remember it was designed for a specific roll.

Pros:
- Price. You get a decent pistol for the price.

- Size. At (6%uFFFD%uFFFD x 4 ¼%uFFFD%uFFFD x 1%uFFFD%uFFFD) this pistol fits into a large pocket or inside the waistband fairly easily. It looks like a wallet or cell phone and is hardly noticeable.

- Weight. The frame is polymer making the gun surprisingly light.

- Capacity. With the standard 10 round, or optional 12 round magazine you can have up to 13 rounds (12 1 in the chamber) of 9mm. Not bad for a pocket pistol. If you don%uFFFD%uFFFDt mind extending the handle about 1 inch, an aftermarket 15 round magazine is also available.

- Simplicity. The only two controls on this pistol are the slide lock, and magazine release. No safety. No hammer. No decocker. Just simple and utilitarian. In a stressful, situation like defending yourself from an attacker, I believe simplicity is a good thing. Less to think about or go wrong. As long as there is a cartridge in the chamber, all you need to do is pull the trigger.

- As for the lack of a safety, it really doesn%uFFFD%uFFFDt need one, and I have no problem carrying this gun with one in the chamber. This is a Double Action Only (DAO) / striker fire weapon. Meaning there is a spring loaded striker (little metal arm) inside the pistol. Under normal conditions, the spring holds the arm against the firing pin, which is a good thing. This keeps the pin and striker from bouncing around and potentially causing the gun to fire. The only way to get the pistol to fire is to use the trigger to pull the striker back against the spring until it snaps forward and strikes the firing pin with enough force to cause the cartridge to fire. And the trigger pull is long and hard. (see cons)

Cons:
- Sights. This pistol has cheap, plastic sights. You can adjust the windage by hammering the rear sight. But it%uFFFD%uFFFDs only held in by the tightness of the fit, so if you loosen it up too much, you will have to replace it. Elevation is adjusted by swapping out the front and/or rear sights. Keltec offer a sight kit with different height front and rear pieces. This level of adjustment will get you %uFFFD%uFFFDclose enough%uFFFD%uFFFD. Remember this gun was made for self defense and not target shooting. In a real self-defense situation, you probably won%uFFFD%uFFFDt have time to aim and the bad guy probably won%uFFFD%uFFFDt stand still long enough for you to get your sight picture. Also the range will likely to be close, so while annoying, this isn%uFFFD%uFFFDt a complete show stopper. If I were to fix one thing about this pistol, I%uFFFD%uFFFDd equip it with a decent set of sights.

- Recoil. Because the frame is so light, this pistol has a very snappy recoil. Again, not a deal breaker, but this makes it less fun to shoot, which probably will lead you to practice less, which is not ideal. Again, in a self-defense situation, you probably won%uFFFD%uFFFDt even notice the recoil. I%uFFFD%uFFFDm going to try a Hogue rubber grip and see if that helps.

- Trigger pull. This pistol has a very long and hard trigger pull. This is good on one hand, as it%uFFFD%uFFFDs not likely to go off accidentally. But it also makes it hard to take accurate shots when your straining against a long, hard trigger pull. Again, for self-defense, probably not critical.

- Slide pull. This pistol has a rather hard slide pull, which may make it difficult for some to rack the slide.

Picked up my P-11 yesterday from my FFL Dealer and hit the range to check it out. This gun is awesome. Fired nearly 100 rounds made up of different brands and types (FMJ & JHP) and had no feed issues and no failure to fire. It fits in my big hand comfortably. The recoil is more than manageable. The trigger feels very smooth. A great shooter at a good price!
