Build quality is very nice. I was a little disappointed by how dirty the gun was and there was a rusty greasy film covering the serial number as well. The FFL had to clean it off to verify a match to the number on the case. Also, the barrel and the body of the pistol are different finishes and will not match up when polished. The trigger is going to be redone by my gunsmith, its clunky and I want it amooth as butter. Overall I am happy I bought it, the gunsmith said that S&W is a better build than many other wheel guns...that plus the work he is gonna do will make for a very nice heirloom to pass on to my kids.

This revolver with the heavy 4” full lug barrel is beautifully balanced. Love the classic look of the 686. After 400+ rounds, gun is flawless and accurate. Another easy transaction from Buds!

Absolutely love this new firearm. This was a collection want. Used .357 and .38 ammo. Shot flawlessly. Single and double action. Definitely not the recoil I thought I was gonna get. Way smoother than any my carry 9mm. Had it at ffl in 3 days along with $100 rebate for purchase in 2 weeks going online. Buds and S&W did great!!

5 stars all the way! You can't go wrong with a Smith & Wesson .357. I have shot many and own two. Very accurate and relatively cheap to shoot especially with .38 special wadcutters. Clean trigger. We bought the 4" version but the 3" model might be next!

No issues out of the box, sights needed a little adjusting but that was it. Shoots very well and the action takes some cycles before it really smooths out like how mine is now.

The S&W 686 has a great feel and balance. The stainless steel finish looks good and is easy to clean. The trigger is smooth at release and has a single action release of about 4-5 pounds. The double action release is heavier, as expected, at 8-10 pounds. The sights are adjustable and highlighted for to easily acquire the sight picture. It runs .38, .38+ and .357 flawlessly and shoots better than I can. The best part is that it was $120-150 less at Bud's than other dealers. The only negative I can say is that the trigger is is a darker and doesn't seem to fit the appearance of the rest of the gun.

Always compared this gun to the python now I have both and really enjoy the both of them. There are some differences but I like both of them.

Absolutely beautiful revolver From Smith and Wesson. You can always expect top craftmanship from S&W. The gun works flawlessly and shoots anything you feed it without any problem. Recoil is obvious but not unmanageable. As with all my other purchases from Bud's Gun Shop, Delivery to my FFL went smoothly and quickly. What can I say bad about a 686. Possibly the saftey key lock, but ,I leave it unlocked and have never had a problem one. It's a very straight shooter and I have never even touched the sights, dead on straight out of the box. The counter weight helps significantly for recoil kick back when shooting hot 357 magnum rounds. Overall GREAT gun. Another point worth mentioning is Buds gun shop being well priced and beating out the competitor's. Their service was straight forward and it showed up at my FFL with in the said time frame. I would not hesitate for one minute to recommend the Smith and Wesson m686 and Buds gun shop.I think they will both meet your expectations.

Bought this beautiful revolver after having regretted selling my 1990s 686 in order to buy another pistol. I had handled it in my LGS, but found it for a much better price on Bud's and became its lucky owner. As has been my experience with S&W revolvers, it is a beautiful, well-finished gun, with no flaws or rough spots. Upon taking it to the range, I found it shot to point of aim at 15 yards with 38 Special FMJ range ammo and similarly with standard velocity 357 rounds. While the DA trigger was stiff at first, after 50 or so rounds it smoothed out and was pretty representative of a stock S&W revolver pull. The SA trigger was crisp and short out of the box. All-in-all is is a great home defense and range revolver. The sights are nice and the feel in your hand is great and the action is smooth. I'd recommend it!

A beautiful balance of power and accuracy. The under lug compensates the hot .357 round very well.

What can I say? it's a "Smith" - Took it out and shot 100 rds various ammo, 357, +P and 38 Sp. The firearm made a marksman out of me. Really accurate and fun to shoot. Bought some Mothers Aluminum and Mag cleaner and the burn marks clean right up and the 686 shines like new. This will be my carrry firearm whenever possible because I can count on it. I always carry a BUG for the NY reload, not to mentiion 1 or 2 speedloaders and/or strips for the 686. Very happy with this purchase and Buds. Its my 4th firearm from there all thanks to Hickok 45 for the constant reminder that this is the place to buy. Love the support people as well, they always went the extra mile to answer my questions. Please open up a store in FL.

Misfired and jammed at 100 rounds. Now need to take to gunsmith for timing issue.
