Auto Ordnance Thompson. Always been on my list to buy. Buds had it significantly cheaper than other stores. This is NOT the lightweight one. It's all steel. The walnut is much darker than in my picture and in person matches with the dark wood in the stock photo. Since it's the TM1 model, it does not accept drum magazines. Overall very satisfied with the rifle. Shipping was fast. Initial plans were to swap the wood furniture for USGI but Im having a hard time parting with the quality of the wood that's on it. I will say it is VERY hard to charge the weapon at first. I left mine with the bolt locked back for a week and it seemed to help significantly.

Shoots nice when it is able to. My friend and I took it out for the first time yesterday and I'm pretty disappointed in the constant failure to feed issues. Chambering a round is next to impossible, so I used a spent 5.56 case to provide more leverage and it helps. I am hoping the feeding issues can be remedied with a new magazine, but who wants to buy a new weapon and have constant problems? It takes the fun out of it.

Bought this "Tommy Gun" when Bud's had it on sale. Did it on a whim, and always wanted one. Big fan of the TV show, Combat, when I was a kid. I was cruising thru old Combat reruns online, and just looked up one for fun. Bud's had one and the price was right. Didn't hesitate to hit the "Buy" button. Hope to get her cut down to a normal barrel size soon enough so she looks right. No problems buying this firearm from Bud's. Quick and easy sale, fast shipping to my FFL. Thanks Bud's for filling my dream gun wish list!!!

Buds service is excellent. The Thompson is a beautiful gun .the fit and finish is great. I would say that the strength need to pull back the charging handle is ridiculous. I just ordered an extended one from Kahr. But, was now notified they are out. ( after i paid of course). I would not recommend this gun unless Kahr also sends an extended charging handle.

Bought this as a novelty, but realized it has few applications for my purposes--hunting only. Sold it back later.

Perhaps the most unreliable long gun I have purchased in 20 years, and I own a lot of guns. So unreliable that the gun cannot make it through one 20 or 30 rd mag without multiple FTF. First round stripped from mag almost always hangs up on its way up the feed ramp and needs assistance “pushing” the bolt forward to go into battery. Sent back to the factory under warranty and came back with the exact same issues. I am using 230 gr ball ammo from reputable manufacturers, and factory mags too. Don't waste your money here. Kahr is appealing to a niche customer by dressing up an old classic with nice bluing and fancy wood for visual appeal, but my facsimile is completely inoperable, even as a range toy, which is its only real practical use. A complete waste of money.
Great service from Bud’s, however. Their preferred FFL shipping process makes the purchase easy.

Received within about a week of order. Was very impressed with the quality of this weapon. Fit and finish was very good. Stripped gun down for a good cleaning, replaced the charging bolt to the extended one at that time. Took it to my range for test fire. The gun performs prerfectly. Very pleased with the look and feel of it. Wondering why I waited so long to buy one.

Buds is great. Highly recommended. The Thompson is a very nice looking gun. When they say the springs are tight, they aren't kidding. The bolt is very tough to pull back. I am hoping when I get out and shoot it, the springs loosen up a bit. Not much else to say till I get it on the range.

After only 100 Rds(and 20 or 30 misfeeds), rear sight came loose. The leading edge of the feed ramp is too high and sharp. It bites into the jacket and crushes the round, compressing the bullet completely back into the case. It misfeeds every 5 to 10 rounds causing the same crushed round. The recoil spring, or springs, are very stiff, making it even more difficult to clear a jam and making for a very sore finger! I have two 20 Rd mags and a 30 rd that I saved from owning a lightweight version several years ago. I had to fit those mags to the rifle, the 30 that came with it had also been ground(rather roughly) to fit the rifle from the factory. The factory 30 performed the worst. I've had the rear sight fixed and had the feed ramp lowered and polished at my own expense. The sight is solid now but the rifle still occasionally jams and fails to lock open on the last round(some of the time). I will probably lower and polish the feed ramp a bit more myself. This rifle has proven to be completely unreliable and not much fun to shoot. Bud's service was excellent and I have no issues them. This was a poor choice of purchase on my part.

Wow! I'm impressed! All the reviews about Bud's are true! Tommy arrived and I was not disappointed! This cheaper version does not accept the 100 round drum but I couldn't pick it up anyway!

Purchased last year and have put almost a thousand rounds through since. Almost no issues whatsoever, and those that did occur only a couple times were in the initial couple hundred rounds. Kahr seems to have really stepped up their QC game. Very pleased with this item! I should mention Bud's was fantastic to deal with as well! Very happy.

Bought the gun as a collector piece and to fire at the range. Overall fit and finish were very good. This gun is solid and very heavy. Went to range to fire the gun. Loaded mag with 230g ball and inserted the clip, racked the bolt and went to put the safety to fire. Safety lever would not budge. Come to find out that chambering a round with the safety on will lock up or damage the gun, making it inoperable. It is now at a gunsmith waiting to be fixed. I could not field strip it so I am hoping he can get this working. Overall I am not happy with the gun, as I would think a gun used in WW2 would be a little more foolproof. It's my fault for assuming that and for not reading the part of the manual warning not to do this. I've owned and shot dozens of guns and have never run across something like this causing such a failure. My FNAR I bought with the Thompson is flawless and can be chambered with or without the safety on just like every other gun I've ever shot or owned. Would not recommend and I am wondering just how fragile this piece is.

I am a World War II historian, reenactor, and participate in living history displays. Moreover, I cannot afford to buy a vintage WWII Tommy gun. I did, however, buy this semi-auto version from Bud's. The price, purchase and delivery from Bud's was, as usual, top shelf. I had the icon aged to look like it has been to Bastogne and back. This was done professionally by the gunsmith department at Bass Pro Shops in Denver. Now it looks like I took it from Captain Miller's possession from Saving Private Ryan. I then applied, and since received, for the Short Barrel Tax Stamp from the BATF. Now the rifle appears to be historically correct with the 10.5 inch barrel on it. (the barrel is a Savage made WWII surplus barrel) The end result? An amazing and as-close-as-you're-gonna-get WWII Tommy gun that looks, feels, and fires like the original! (semi-auto only, of course) THANK YOU TO ALL THE BUDS AT BUD'S!

Purchased this rifle in spite of all the negative comments on the boards... glad I did. It's heavy, but a riot to shoot. Very accurate. 30 round magazine supplied with the rifle ran fine, surplus 30 round mags needed a little work (enlarging the mag catch hole), but ran fine afterwards. The recoil springs are HEAVY. Cocking this beast is work, but you can get an extended bolt handle from Auto Ordnance or just muscle it. DO NOT COCK it with the safety ON !!! this can damage the sear (see instruction manual). Nice to see somebody makes a rifle that isn't all plastic and aluminum. MACHINED steel parts and well fitted wood make this a classic !!!! MADE IN USA !!!

This thing is a beast, it is heavy but fun to shoot. It did have a few hiccups shooting it, a about a dozen ftf's but after shooting about 50 rounds they dcreased. There is a break in period I guess. It is hard to pull the bolt all the way back to cock it and it is very heavy, other than that it was fun to shoot. I dont regret getting it. It is a reproduction of a classic icon and it is fun to shoot.

I loaded only 5 to 10 rounds at a time the first few times I shot it and it did fine, but the first time I loaded the 30 round capacity it jamed and threw the extractor from the bolt. I reinstalled the extractor and it still wouldnt chamber a round from a full clip, the bolt would drag on the next round in the clip and would not close. I contacted Kahr and they wanted me to send it in for repair so I decided to have some fun shooting it as much as I could first. After shooting about 75 rounds from half clip now it chambers fine on a full clip, apparently the clip just needed broken in so I did not send it back. I have read many reviews that said these have a rough break in period but opperate fine afterwards. I would suggest if you have this problem with a new gun to load the clip with 30 rounds and leave it alone for about a weak to weaken the spring a little. I love this gun and am going to save up for the 27 version with the drum.
