Looking for a large bore single shot rifle New England (H&R) makes a dandy. Would recommend this model. Nice stocks, fiber optic sights and is very accurate. Thank you Buds for a smooth transaction! Hope to do business again.

I have the 500mag revolver and having a rifle to match is the reason i purchased this. Planing on going pig hunting and this will be my go to rifle for that. As stated in the other review the fit and finish is lacking but its built like a tank and good for the money. As always Buds came through with great sevice and price

I just bought this handi-rifle in 500 s&w. It is my first H&R single shot rifle. The finish on this rifle leaves a bit to be desired, but I wasn't buying an expensive gun, so some shortcuts were expected. Actually the only issue I saw was cosmetic in that the buttstock was not tapered to the action, but is about 1/8 inch larger in diameter (something I will take care of first time I refinish the stock) I had read about this gun in this caliber online, and was hesitant to buy,as all the writings I found talked about how bad it kicked. I have a thing about having a pistol/rifle combo, and having a revolver in 500s&w, I had to order a matching caliber rifle. Boy was I surprised!! this rifle is sweet to shoot, and accurate as any open-sight rifle I own. First loads were popping soda cans at 85-110 yards. This rifle has the fiber optic sights on it, which I didn't really care for until now, but they are easy to bring up and on target. When the FFL dealer called me to say my rifle had arrived, he called it my "cannon". When I opened the box I saw why...the 500 has basically a bull barrel, giving it the look of a 20 gauge shotgun until you look at the bore. As a single shot it is fairly light weight, though I didn't weigh mine to see how light Don't be afraid of the kick, as it is not nearly what my 45-70 lever action was...and less than my 7mm magnum, and bothers my less than shooting my 7.62x39 carbine. If and elk or bear get within 150 yards..it will be meat on the table or rug for the floor.
