Before I shot this pistol, when I unboxed it, everything about it seemed really buttoned down. It is tight and very smooth when I racked it. Two visits to the range gave me the feeling that the gun is a charm to use; in particular, at longer distance, the shots were more predictable and I could call the shots 90% of the time. I am pretty sure that over the coming months, I should be able to call the shots close to 100% of the time. Physically, it is also a beautiful gun and this is one gun I will never sell. There was an initial delay when the order was first processed even though I sent in a secured cashiers check. I exchanged a couple of emails but I was not satisfied with the answers and so, I called. CS Dept was patient and explained that the gun was, indeed, in stock and the delay was due to shipping dept fulfilling a high volume of other orders. Since I have made a few other purchases without any issues, I waited and gave them room to fulfill their promises. Bud's came through for me and the gun was shipped.

This guns gets 4 stars because of value, not quality. It is a great gun... just maybe not $1700 great. Fit and finish are flawless. And after an extended brake in it is a near perfect 1911. It did take about 600 rounds to brake in with lots of frequent cleaning in the beginning. The safety was initially a bit mussy and initially I had feeding problems but all of that worked itself out after a few hundred rounds. Now the safety changes position smoothly with a satisfying 'snic' and feeding and extraction have been 300/300. The trigger is close to ideal in my opinion: 3.5 - 4 lbs and perfectly crisp with zero over travail. If I do my part the gun will shoot 3/4 inch groups at 10 yards all day. I like the fish-scale for and aft grips on the slides -very positive grip without taring up the hands. The mag well is nicely flared and the mags that gun comes with are of fair quality (Im a WC mag snob mind you). The slide lock up and bushing started out too tight, but again loosened up nicely very snug over the first few hundred rounds. I would strongly recommend using plenty of high quality lube and cleaning every couple mags for the first 50 - 100 rounds.
