Granted, this is not a very expensive 1911 A1 but for the money, I expected a bit nicer quality. Glad I bought it at Bud's great price instead of paying $999.99 as many places charge. Not sure what the value of the ILS system for most shooters. Do you want to lock the ILS it for home defense? Probably not. If you keep it in a lock box or safe would you use the ILS? Probably not. If you have kids and have no place to securely keep the pistol, then it may have some merit. Put a new hammer spring housing w/ magwell on this unit and found that Springfield does not even put a hammer spring retaining pin in their ILS housing. Glad I had an extra one available. I just ordered a new 23 Lb hammer spring as the ILS spring is special and designed only for the ILS system. If you want an extended mag release button or an extended slide release lever, you will have to purchase your own. Note that they only picture the right hand side of the gun. The manual safety lever is extremely hard to move. I tried to remove the safety lever to remove .020 from the lobe but couldn't get the level out of the pistol. How hard did they press the two members of the ambi safety together?? I worked the safety lever a few thousand times and it is somewhat better but still about twice as hard to activate than any or my other 1911's. Also, the edge of the safely levers are extremely sharp. Had to take some emery paper and rounded the sharp edge. Quality? I didn't like the two piece recoil spring guide and put a Wilson full length polished spring guide and new standard weight spring. Saw in some forums that the standard Springfield guide may cause some problems. The lockup seems pretty good and the trigger pull is very good. As I mentioned, I was happy that I got Bud's price because I ended up spending an extra $160 upgrading this pistol. Haven't shot this pistol yet as I still need a new hammer spring. It's been several years since I last purchased a 1911 A1 and maybe what I found is normal for current production 1911's. I hope not!
