THEY ARE FAILING IN SOME THINGS, THE GRIP WITH DETAILS, THE FRAME OF THE REVOLVER WITH SHINE IMPERFECTIONS. THEY ARE NOT MANUFACTURING THEM LIKE THE ONES BEFORE, NOW EVERYTHING IS PRODUCTION.

This revolver was really dirty when I received it, but it shined up well with some metal polish. Lockup is tight. Trigger is good. Tested it with about a hundred rounds: 125 and 158 grain .357 magnum, and 158 grain .38 special. Sights were dead on with the 158 grain. Unlike most of the Smith revolvers I have purchased, the ejector rod on this one did not back out with use, which was refreshing. This revolver is accurate, powerful, aesthetically beautiful -- an absolutely sold firearm. Buy one.

I was disappointed in this firearm when I got it. But not before I left my FFL and then it was too late. The front sight was real cloudy and a mark on the front site like it had been dropped and caught a hard surface. The polish was also incomplete as you can see where it was held on the barrel. But shoots fine.

This gun was on my wishlist for a while. It is fun to shoot and great quality. Love Buds!

I bought this as a range gun. Shooting with 38 Special is extremely easy, and even 357 is not the monster that I thought it would be with the weight of this gun. Good handling and accurate. I did have an issue with the sights and had to send it back to S&W to have them aligned, but other than that a great purchase.

Have yet to fire it, but looking forward to a day at the range. Love the feel of the 4” and the extra round (7) with the S&W 686 Plus. Ordered a holster and 7 round speed loader. Pleased with ease of order, quality, and delivery. Thank you, Buds!

Very nice revolver. You could cover 3 shot group with a dime in x ring at 10 yds out of the box.

Simply put, amazing! Took it to the range and put a whole box of Remington .38 Special (no 357 yet) but it’s such a joy to shot. The casing release is always a satisfying feeling and being able to reload one by one rather than stuffing a whole magazine is a pleasure. Shipping was quick, no defects, and added the option for lifetime warranty as I do not plan to let this go. It will now be a family heirloom for years to come!

Excited to finally get to fire after waiting so long to get this(months)First 7 rounds of 357 magnum locked up the cylinder and the thumb latch would absolutely not release. Called Smith and Wesson did some trouble shooting because they thought it may be just a backed out extractor rod. They advised me I had to take to a local gun dealer to have it totally disassembled to have the spent cases removed at my cost for it to then be shipped out to Smith and Wesson with an at least 10-11 week lead time before they even touch it. So that’s where I’m at. Im sure it will be fine after I go through all the hoops but I now understand the rumors that Smith and Wesson revolvers aren’t the hand fitted high quality guns they once were and hire whoever to throw these things together.

Perfect carry wheel gun. Not crazy about the Hogue grips but I've not replaced them yet after 2 years...

This thing is no joke heavy on the recoil if you're used to shooting pistols like myself this one here take a bit ti get used to

I don’t know if I can say anything about this gun that hasn’t already been said. My main purpose in buying it was to introduce new people to shooting (starting with a .22, if you want to look up my review of the Ruger Wrangler). The 686 Plus always winds up being everyone’s favorite gun on range day; for new and experienced shooters alike, it’s such a pleasure to slow down and shoot this gorgeous classic revolver. You can start a newbie with .38 rounds, then move them up to the thrill of shooting full .357s. Shooting full .357s out of this is like flooring a Corvette on a long empty stretch of freeway: it’s powerful, but it’s controlled power because it’s doing what it was designed for. I chose the Plus because why not go for lucky 7, and I chose the 4” barrel because it’s long enough to control recoil but short enough to feasibly carry.

686+ is quite possibly the most coveted shooter of the S&W fan base. This is a quality firearm (7 shot cylinder) , with few peers. .357 & .38 special If you enjoy wheelies, this is a must for the safe.

I have roughly 20,000 rounds through the gun; my favorite shooter and I own a bunch. Don't buy it....you can't afford the ammo you will want to shoot.

I really like this gun. It's a bit of an old school revolver though so no rapid unloading. The magnum rounds are fun as they provide a big fireball when triggered. It never jams. It's a bit heavy but beautiful! Because of it's weight it shoots with minimal recoil. I'm an aircraft engineer and prefer to use stainless steel whenever strength, corrosion is an issue. Also, I wouldn't try to use it as a concealed carry. It's just a bit too big.

I really enjoy shooting this revolver. 4 inch barrel is perfect size for me. Quality handgun.
