Wow! Why did I wait so long to get one of these! 10 rounds in the cylinder, great single and double action trigger pulls, feels great in the hand. Smith and Wesson does a great job on these guns. Buy a classic now, these are fantastic 22 hand gun. Bud’s had it at my ffl in no time.

If you’re thinking about adding the 617 to your collection; just do it. This is the finest 22lr you will ever handle. I put it off for years because of the price. It truly is worth the price. Quality over quantity. I saw mixed reviews on social media about quality control. I purchased the lifetime warranty through Bud’s for peace of mind, but shipped to my ffl with no issues. Take care of this revolver and it will last through generations. I have a 4 inch 686 that this compliments. I can go to the range shoot a few rounds of 357 and 38 special and spend the remaining time shooting 22lr and not be thinking if the cost. This is the ultimate plinking gun! Excellent timing and sights for me didn’t need adjustment. I’m consistently hitting 3 inch plates in double action off a dueling tree at 25 yards. Trigger is smooth and break is predictable for staging the trigger. If you want to just slow down and have fun, or share the joy of plinking with another you won’t regret this purchase. I only shoot copper plated CCI ammo and run a bore snake through after 50 rounds. Yes it will shoot all ammo however I’m of the opinion that the best 22lr should be fed with the best ammo and 22lr gets dirty quick. Copper plated CCI ammo is the cleanest food out there and it still fouls up. Going to the range and consistently running bore snake every 50 rounds you can shoot until the sun goes down!

Product arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It went bang every time I pulled the trigger too. The gun is GORGEOUS! And it shoots like a dream! VERY accurate too! The first time I took it out the sight needed to be adjusted a little but by the third cylinder full I was putting every shot in a three inch circle at 25 yards. I bought it as a "walk around" gun while exploring in the woods and fields and I know it will easily be able to take the occasional squirrel, rabbit, or grouse I cross paths with in my journeys.

Works well but less than impressed by the quality of the finish

This is my first Smith and Wesson firearm and my first purchase from Buds. The transaction was smooth, however the handgun on the website is listed with 3 dot sights and I received all black. So, I guess I am now considering a red dot for the 22 LR. Christopher M.

waited a long time for these to become available. Once I saw it on Bud’s, I pulled the trigger. Once I got it, I could not wait to shoot it. After a little practice and slight sight adjustment, I’m putting 3” groups at 10 yrds. Maybe not great, but about my best. LOVE IT!!

As always, transaction was flawless with Buds. Haven’t had a chance to take it to the range yet but will update review as soon as I do.

Bought this .22 Cal. revolver over a year ago & have taken it to the range 1/2 dozen times. I can, with experience, tell everyone, this thing rocks big time. It is a 10 shot S&W L frame that balances well, fits the hand great, lines up & stays on target . In short, a classic S&W. One can't go wrong with this if you are after a medium frame varmint / plinker hip gun. Doubles as a great practice peace if you shoot a S&W 686.

Buds price and delivery are very good. I can't add much to what has already been written about the 10 shot 617s. I have been using mine for Steel Challenge matches and it works just fine. At first I did have an occasional FTF but a longer firing pin fixed that problem. S&W's quality control isn't quite as good as it used to be, but that is just life today with everything. C.B.

What a hoot to shoot! AND it doesn't cost an ARM and LEG to shoot.

I wanted this revolver, with a 4" barrel, based on my experience with a blued, 6" K22. It is the most incredibly over built 22 out there, and very accurate. Fit and finish is beautiful, and the 10 round cylinder make it a great range gun, and for those able too, a great plinking field gun. Trigger is good single action and very smooth in double action. Sights are adjustable S&W, and the full under lug bull barrel makes steady shooting easy. My only complaint if I can make one is the price. Its not the cheapest 22 revolver, but rather one your grand kids will probably pass on. A friend has a 6" version, and it seems very barrel heavy to me, and nothing like the old K22. Still accurate though. I changed to wood Altamont grips for personal taste.

Quality that you expect from S&W products. Enhance you skills with out breaking the bank! Handling and feel of larger caliber.
