Love this gun! Weighted perfectly and the recoil is not bad at all. Accurate and fun to shoot.

The Taurus model 44 magnum 6 shot 4 inch revolver is half the price of the S&W model and I believe just as good if not even better built it’s made to hunt in any elements and preform flawlessly the things that puts the 44 Taurus on top for me is the life time guarantee the price and the quality

Absolutely love my new .44 mag! After a few rounds getting it zeroed at 50yds, it was flawless. Have purchased several weapons from Buds, always delivered in a couple of days and in good condition.

I own several Taurus revolvers and I purchased this weapon for personal defense while hunting in the known bear units of Colorado. Fully loaded with Underwood Extreme Penetrators, it weighs in at 3.18 lbs. & 2.88 empty. So far, in it's "new" condition, the cylinder is a nice tight fit & the lock is a tad bit stiff making for a 2 handed reload (no Jerry Miculek action here). The red insert on the front sight is highly visible & easy to acquire through the fully adjustable rear slot. The single action trigger-pull on the one I bought is surprisingly smooth & easy (perhaps too easy for a weapon of that caliber? Tch!Naaah!). Double action is crisp and quick but, there is a "Fake" reset. As the trigger moves forward to the 1st click, the trigger locks up and must move fully forward to refire. Frankly, I only discovered this during cleaning after the range. The 4" barrel drew quick and easy in combat training, and the venting tames the muzzle rise rather well. Recoil is a bit stronger than the Ruger Red Hawk I had, probably due to the short tube (no cowboy action with this launcher). I'll be looking for an after-market grip to help abate that. In spite of the weight, it packs well in the high country in a drop holster. As far as accuracy: I was punching 4" groups at 25' while taking time to aim. I managed to keep them in a 12" circle during "panic" practice at 15'. Ran 50 rounds of "White Box" through it flawlessly. Hopefully, I'll never know how adrenalin effects the accuracy.

Love this gun! Feels good in my hand and shoots great.

Very nicely made. Grips absorb most of the recoil from defense rounds. Along with the grips, the ported barrel helps control the bark but not the bite.

Shoots just as well as a buddy's 629 which costs nearly twice as much. The grips are sub par so I installed a set of Hogue LamoCamo's which are much thicker and fit my hands way better. Take it camping for bear protection. Its heavy loaded, to be expected I suppose but isn't terrible in my Alaskan Guide chest holster.

I have one of these Taurus revolvers, bought it in May, and have waited to write a review until I've fired it enough.
So far, I've gone through 1-box of Winchester 240-grain jacketed soft-points (44-mag), and two boxes of 246-grain Specials.
As per past experiences, Bud's did an excellent job shipping it to my FFL.
Okay. The 4-inch barrel length is a bit inaccurate. The rifling is "only" for the first 3-inches, the last inch is roughly, an 'expansion-chamber' for the porting. The 4-ports on each side of the front-sight does reduce felt recoil.
The high visibility, orange florescent front sight was disappointing. It is only a narrow strip of 'sticky-tape' which left the front sight upon cleaning it with Hoppe's. Expect a LOT of residue along the front sight and base from the porting.
It has shown itself to be quite accurate with both the magnum and special loads.
I like the that it is forged steel, rather than a casting.
Overall, I am pleased with it, just wish it were a 'true' 4-inch barrel.

Yes. Does not have the "Hunter" on the revolver. Great shooting piece. The porting helps a ton. I'm going to get a Hogue for it. It needed sight adjustments right out of the box. No biggie. I experiences horrible customer service with S&W. So minor adjustments are no big deal to me. I loved it. The desert eagle was a waste of money. 44mag and the 50. No bueno.

My .44 arrived quickly. It has some heft to it which is good, but it doesn't feel too heavy (at least to me, and I'm 5'7" 170 lbs). I fired the long barreled version previously, and that one felt weighty, but this 4" barreled version is a good compromise as a step up from the short barrel. This weapon was a good size for my hand, but my lady felt that it was too big for her hands, so if you feel that you have small hands, maybe this isn't the revolver for you? Still, the polymer grip feels good while firing, and the craftsmanship feels solid. I shot 44 specials with this weapon (have not shot magnums yet) and the kickback was manageable. Experienced no problems rotating the rounds in the cylinder while firing. The trigger pull is just about right; not too hard and not too loose. The Taurus safety locking system is a welcome touch as well. You will likely need to adjust the rear sites to get a consistent shot group, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. All in all, if you're looking for a solid .44 magnum, you'll do well with this revolver, especially for the price.

First, realize that the firearm being sold isn't the firearm currently pictured. The picture shows a Taurus Tracker 4". The model # is correct though, and what you're buying (and what I'm reviewing) is a Taurus M44 4".
The M44 is a great 44mag revolver. It's a full size large frame, the same size as a S&W N frame revolver. While there aren't a lot of holsters made for the M44, there are a lot made for the S&W 629 4", and those will fit this pistol.
It's weight and larger rubber grip mitigate a lot of the recoil, and 44spl up to lower power 44mag rounds are easy to control and pleasant to shoot. For full power 44mags I think I prefer those out of a 8.5" barrel on a 65oz gun, but they aren't too bad here either. Definitely recommend the Taurus M44. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 due to the picture issue.

This pistol has been great. Its accurate and does not have as much recoil as my 45 1911a1. I have large hands and this pistol feels great in my hand. Great price and Buds has been fantastic on pricing and shipping. Thanks!

Picked up at Bud's Lexington about a week ago, excellent service as always. Got to the range over the weekend. The Taurus .44 magnum is a real hand cannon, recoil is what you'd expect. The rifled portion of the barrel is actually about 3" and ends behind the porting. Not as accurate as the .357 Taurus I have, but acceptable at 25 yards. Some don't like the grips but I find them about right. A fun handgun that will stop anything.
