I have Gad this gun for several years. Amazing gun! It’s factory tuned and extremely comfortable to carry. Shooting this gun is even better, its chambered in 357mag but comes from a robust 44mag frame with and 8 shot capacity. Thanks Buds Guns!!

First impression very nice quality, Oct.2018 build, unbelievably clean inside & out, I shot 100 ea. 38spl &357 148HBWC lead & plated
125FN pltd. 3.5 thu 7.5 bullseye with mixed very good accuracy and comfort of recoil. This gun looks, feels, performs as well as my smiths
Time will tell, very happy with this Taurus 608 purchase. Shame so many bashers are missing out

This is the ugliest revolver I have ever seen! I should have sent it back; I don't know why I didn't. I guess I just wanted a second 8-shot. This is my second 608SS4. The first one was gorgeous and everyone in the LGS commented on how great it looked. This second one is literally "in the white" stainless steel, if you know what that is - it is totally how it came out of the final cutting. No polish, nothing smooth. Where it was test fired, the dirt and smoke was still in the grain of the steel because the steel is so rough. The gunsmith assured me it looked new except test firing but the finish was atrocious, completely unfinished on every metal part! I have been a Taurus fan-boy but I will never buy another Taurus after seeing the terrible quality of this gun.

Took it to the range and ran 80 rounds of .38 spl through it without incident and with decent accuracy. Trigger seemed smooth. Will try some 357 in the next few days. Brought it home and cleaned it. Cylinder opens, spins and locks ok but faint sound of friction compared to my S and W 686 that spins like a top. Oiled it but hey, the problem is simply that its not a S and W; simple as that. Its a Taurus. So for $650 after transfer to FFL, I think I have a nice, tough, reliable, high capacity revolver that shoots pretty well. Worried when I read other poor reviews, but so far 4 stars.

Excellent firearm I have always been a S&W and Ruger guy this one has as good a finish as either. The feel of the gun was the same a an N frame S&W and the sight was also exactly the same. Function was perfect I ran full bore 158 gr rounds (3 CYLINDERS 24 rounds) as fast as I could It was hot but It never seemed to bind up and the point of aim did not crawl. Recoil was not an issue with the provided grips (rubber-plastic). I made a slight change in the adjustable sights and it dialed in just the way I wanted it. This handgun is in my opinion as good as any I have ever used and the price was way below the similar S&W - rugers . I can see this as useful in the field or for personal defense.

I can't say enough good things about this firearm. Truly, a solid well built revolver that will last many lifetimes!!! Taurus delivers one more time! I currently own more than 7 Taurus revolvers and they're all top notch weapons.

My 4th of 5 purchases from Buds. All great. This taurus is a beast. Minimal recoil with 357 due to its weight and porting. Very accurate. VERY fun to shoot. Only 40 or 50 rounds so far but not one problem. Thanks Buds and Taurus

I have owned this gun now for a few months and have about 200 rounds through it. I really wanted a S&W 686 or 627 but I have had good luck with previous older Taurus revolvers and with a temporary price drop to $377 I took a chance. Taurus quality was much better 10-15 years ago. The gun was dirty and stained when I received it but since I planned on polishing it anyway it did not concern me. A couple of hours with mothers mag polish and the gun looked much better, not shiny but much improved over the matte finish. It also had a couple of significant manufacturing tool marks on the frame and cylinder. The orange tape on the front sight came off during polishing and I replaced it with white paint. It also has the lawyer lock on the hammer that seems to work as advertised. On the first trip to the range it locked up 4 times. After 2-5 shots the cylinder would not rotate and I would need to release the cylinder and reindex it to keep shooting. Rapid fire caused it to occur sooner after 2-3 shots. I had the rangemaster shoot it and he had the same problem. I took it home intending to send it back to Taurus. Instead I cleaned it and took it back to the range. It shot 50 rounds flawless and I have since put another 100 rounds of 38 and 357 through it without a problem. It must of been a metal spur that was worn off, another example of poor QC. Does it have the quality of a S&W or Ruger? No way. Do I trust it as a defense weapon? Not yet (maybe after another problem free 200-300 rounds). Taurus should ship these guns in better cosmetic condition and without tool marks. They also need to work on their QC as this seems to be a trend in these reviews. It comes back to you get what you pay for. I should have spent the extra and got a S&W.

I am an avid shooter, products liability lawyer, and second amendment lawyer. I have defended manufacturers for years and suit manufacturers for defective products. The problem with this product became evident immediately. I used three different types of 38 special ammo and the gun again misfiring after about 50 rounds. Two days later I tried 357 rounds and the situation was even worse. There witness marks of the firing pin on only two of the eight rounds. Aftermarket quality control or quality assurance is unacceptable. While a beautiful weapon, it will not work as a self protection item for California if it misfires. This weapon should be a perfect self-defense weapon for California and its restrictions. Right now the gun is being examined by gunsmith to determine the cause of the misfiring. It appears as though this may be a problem with Taurus sequencing. I do not believe the weapon is unreasonably dangerous by itself, but the failure to fire consistently makes it potentially dangerous. I thought that Taurus had solved these problems.

I was really excited to get the Taurus model 608. After I received it, it seemed like the gun may have been fired before. There was blast powered marks around all cylinders and some dirt in the barrel. I thought maybe that was done at the Taurus factory. I checked to make sure dry fire was ok and according to Taurus, it is. I dried fired the 608 multiple times. After about the 3rd day, I noticed the cylinder lock was not working properly which cause the trigger to not be pulled. This was occurring about every 3rd pull of the trigger. The day I was going to go to the range, I dried fired the weapon and now it's just broke. Something inside, under the cover is wrong. I'm going to contact Taurus and my FFL to see about sending it in for a repair. What a drag, I have not even live fired the gun yet. I have many Rugers, Walthers, Beretta’s and never had a problem. This is my first Taurus, not a good way to start off. TG

Just got it a couple of days ago and already been to the range, this puppy is a tack driver, feels great in your hand and with the heavy wieght, the recoil is distributed wonderfully. It looks and performs like a much more exspensive firearm. Eight rounds, what a blast. When Bud's dropped the price to $377 it was Christmas in February, the only thing i had too decide is do i get one or two! I have to admit, even at the current price, this pistol is worth the money, and i'm a bargain hunter. This is my 3rd Taurus, so Taurus haters, keep hating, i don't want the price to be driven up! Thanks again Buds

LOVE LOVE LOVE this gun!!!! Got it new just the other day, was oiled up really well (good to know they take care of it), cleaned it up and took it to the range. Shoots so smooth with .357, put .38 in there and I couldn't even tell it was shooting except when I saw the grouping in the target. I've got to adjust the sights a little bit but that's easy. It's a heavy gun so it takes a lot of the recoil, I can't imagine someone saying this thing kicks hard. Great looking gun, plus 8 shots, are you kidding me! Taurus has a great warranty so if anything does happen you get it taken care of. If you can get it...GET IT!!!

Service was great from Buds. I had some problems with this revolver, after about 50 rounds the cylinder would not turn on pulling the trigger, also the finish on the gun was poor. I contacted Taurus and they had fedex at my door the next day to pick up the revolver. I received the gun back in about 2 weeks. They fixed the cylinder and repaired the finish. All no charge of course. Great customer service. I am very happy with this 8 shot 357. I actually carry this cannon sometimes in a shoulder harness.

As usual, Bud's was great.... This is a nice wheel gun... Functions flawlessly, is accurate, has a nice feel to it & has a great trigger.. I've had a few issues with some Taurus autos, but decided to take a chance on a Taurus revolver. I'm glad I did, I love this gun.

This is a great pistol, especially considering the price. It is very solid, and the finish is great on the one that I received. It is nice having eight rounds, and the thing is quite solid. However, it was not without its problems. Like the guy who reviewed this as a "horrible pistol", I had a similar experience. When loading the cylinder with 8 rounds, I could usually get about three to four shots out before the cylinder would jam and not advance. I was pretty disappointed with this, but Taurus arranged to pick up the pistol on the very next day after I called. They fixed it and returned it to me in four or five weeks, and after that, it works absolutely perfectly. I thought the turn-around time was a bit long, but at least the repair was right the first time, so after all is said and done, I am glad that I made the purchase. One thing to note is that, since it is a revolver, it requires much more thorough cleaning. Dirt gets everywhere! The ports in the barrel on either side of the front site are nice for reducing muzzle rise, but the get the front site really dirty. Also keep in mind that it will blind you if you use this as a defense weapon in the dark because the flash will be super bright coming up out of the ports.

HORRIBLE PISTOL, sloopy shoddy workmanship, the finish, which I can live with, has what looks like RED BLOOD alll over the cylinder, it wont wipe off, but like I said, I can live with that, but, the top of the cylinder (where you stick the bullets in,) is not even close to being even, the width between the head of the bullet and the back of the weapon varied from .48 which is too damn close up by the little x mark to .54 which is just barely acceptable, the bullet butt would scrape along the back of the gun, and there was NO way to even pull the darn trigger. IT might fire 3 or 4 rounds and then the narrow part would come up and it would NOT cycle, and fire, IMPOSSIBLE TO FIRe, also very hard to get the cylinder out of the locked position, so I call Taurus, someone who did not have English as a PRIMARY language answered, she said "oh, jess, chew have to break eet in, 200 to 300 rounds and dis is normal for chur new gun." I took it to the United States Shooting academy and the range safety officer could not fire it past a certain point due to the shoddy workmanship. These guns are mass produced and this one was made on a Friday at 4:59 when everyone (quality control) had aready started their weekend. I could send it back to Taurus, and pay 77 bucks to UPS it overnight and they would have it for a couple of months, or I could take it to my trusted gunsmith, which I did, 35 dollars later, and after GRINDING it down on the laythe it now works but it is no Smith and Wesson. He said was a cone shape appearance, which he has never seen before (and he has been gunsmithing since the early 70's) it now works, but it is still lop sided, the two alignment pins under the extractor are BENT, but, at least it will go bang now with minimal trigger pull. Spend the extra money and get a S&W, or a Ruger Redhawk, or a Colt. This gun is destined to be sold, and I will take a loss on it, This is in no way BUDS fault. Have bought some really fantastic guns from Buds, happy with the delivery time, but this gun is a POS. Sincerely, Bob Long, Tulsa, OK

Over all this pistol is a great value. I love the idea of having a revolver that holds 8 rounds. This pistol looks and feels great as well. There are a few things that I must say that I was not too impressed with. First of all, the finish. On the perticular 608 that I recieved there is a finish discoloration or finish irregularity on the barrel. I have read also that seems to be somewhat common with some Taurus pistols. I also did not like the fact that after I expend the rounds in the pistol, I have to pretty much pry the spent brass out of the cylinder. This may inprove after more use. That is why I only rated it at a three. I don't know if this is common with revolvers, as I am a rifle guy and don't really mess to much with revlovers. The trigger in my opinion is pretty good as far as feel goes. The double action is good as well. Lastly, thi handgun KICKS. I would venture to say that It is more to handle then my 460 S&W at times. Do not let the ports on the barrel fool you, this pistol KICKS. Overall though I am satisfied with the Taurus and would buy it again.
