After shooting this BIG handgun for a while now, I say it was a worthwhile purchase. The front (crane) and rear (cylinder) locks keep everything buttoned up tight when lighting off this big bore. Accuracy is very good with .452 dia. bullets, a little less accurate but still definitely acceptable with .451 dia. bullets. Since this revolver has a ported barrel, which positvely makes it easier to handle the recoil, I do not recommend using lead bullets. The barrel ports and the freebore portion of the expansion chamber at the end of the barrel foul quickly and have a detrimental affect on accuracy. This does not occur with jacketed bullets. The Taurus grip really contributes to shooting comfort as well. Many shooters would like this grip on other brand handguns and I would agree, the grip works. The finish is susceptible to wearing off on corners rather quickly, however this would not prevent me from buying another revolver. Duracoat is an easy fix if desired. The 454 Casull is a 5 star purchase for me!

Went out shooting my Bull yesterday and I gotta say that the 45 Colt rounds feel about the same as a 9mm!!! The weight of the gun offsets any recoil. Then I shot the 454 casull, and I tell you what "It was awesome". It definitely has a recoil but feels really good with the ported barrell. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for gun that falls in the "HAND CANNON" category. I purchased my gun the day after Labor Day and processing/shipping took a longggggggg time (15 days), but gun arrived in great condition.

I own one of these and it is quite impressive. The power of the Casull round is alot more than a .44 Magnum, but not as much as the mighty S&W 500. I really liked the big, fat grip Taurus designed for this beast. I like it so much I wish the S&W 500 had one available for it, too. I liked the factory dual-ported muzzle brake. Each side of the top of the muzzle, at the very end of the barrel, has three holes drilled in it to vent gases upwards when the gun is fired. This really helps keep the muzzle from rising alot and I never feared getting hit in the forehead by the barrel. Just like the S&W 500, this gun will push back first when fired, then the muzzle will rise. It happens so quickly that you can't react to it - you just have to hold on tight! Although it does have a good bit of recoil, it is not as bad as the 500 Magnum. It is quite pleasant, especially with the excellent grip, and this gun could be fired at a practice range all day long without hurting yourself. This gun does have a few quality issues, though. The ejector rod was very sticky on my gun, so much so that it stayed partially open one time when I didn't notice it and when I tried to close the cylinder the sharp points of the ejector plate dinged the frame and marred it. I think this problem is likely due to the material it was made out of rather than a factory defect. I would guess the stainless steel version doesn't have this problem since stainless steel is alot smoother than forged steel. One other thing I noticed was that the cone-side of the cylinder was not uniformly even. One cylinder hole had a significant gap (I didn't bother to measure it) whereas the opposite hole had practically no gap. Either the cylinder was warped or not trued during machining. This surely has an effect on consistency. Even so, overall I really liked this gun. The shiny dark black finish really sets this gun off and the laser-etched logos on the barrel look right at home. I highly recommend this gun if you can't handle a 500 Magnum, but still want a good revolver to hunt with at a great price.
