This is a fantastic and powerful rifle!

Ooowee !! This thing kicks arse. Even after I added a sling and a padded cheek piece, it liked to kill me. I'm not complaining, mind you. I'm just saying you'd REALLY have to hate what you're pointing this thing at (or, at least, be very determined to kill and eat it). Well made. Tight lock-up. The iron sights are a bit small for my old eyes, so a scope might be in order. Will it tackle any and all North American game? No doubt in MY mind. A real "Thunder Stick".

Fit and finish is not up to par with my old JM but it’s a working rifle. We use it to control hogs on the ranch. Ka-plunks the beasts immediately, has cleanly harvested every one straight down. Both shoulders clean through no problem. Very good rifle. Super fun caliber to hunt with close up. Would give 5 stars if not for so-so stock to receiver fit.

Heard a lot of negative reviews on this newer marlin but I have no complaints it functions flawlessly! Very accurate with Hornady ammo! Buds is the only way to buy firearms online, great service! Will definitely buy more from them in the future

Let me begin, this review, with my impression of Buds. Fricking OUTSTANDING. Ordered on a weekend. Order Processed, and Shipped, by Tuesday. In my Hands by Thursday. Very happy with the communication, and my purchase. As to the Rifle. Marlin is BACK. Fit and finish, are amazing. Tight tolerances, and the wood, is outstanding. Went dirctly from the FFL, to the range. Fired, and cycled multiple ammo types, ranging from 300 Hollowpoint Federal, to Remington 405 Corelokt. Tight groups, at 100 yards, using open stock sights. It is a pleasure to shoot, though my shoulder may be a little sore tomorrow. The 45-70 Gov, is not a wimpy round. In all, you can't go wrong, with Buds, or Marlin.

This is the first lever action firearm I have owned and I must say I am impressed. After a decade and a half of using AR and other semi-auto rifles I really enjoy the walnut and blued steel of this Marlin. The action is smooth, the trigger is fine, and the rifle handles well. I plan on using this rifle in a couple of weeks on a hog hunt and I have no doubt that the 45-70 chambering will prove very effective. If anyone has any doubts about the new "Remlin" rifles I say try one and you will probably be as pleasantly surprised as I was about their quality.

You have to love a big bore 45-70 all that I expected, still working on load data for accuracy not a big deal I really wanted the CB model but at the time they would only sell to bud club members.

Well, I just checked. This is the 14th. Gun I have bought from Bud’s. The excellent trade in allowance and the efficiency of Gurney and his team have allowed me to constantly upgrade my collection with ease. Thanks, Bud’s Team. My new Marlin 1895 Government 45-70 is beautiful. Ran a patch through it and wiped down the metal with oil and put some furniture wax on the stock. Kind of planting my flag. Workman ship is fine. Action smooth and has a good trigger. So happy with this purchase and Bud’s great service.

I am very pleased with my Marlin 1895 45-70 rifle. I bought it and got a nice whitetail buck the first season. The gun looks great, functions perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone. I was expecting a lot more recoil but it’s not bad at all. Although you don’t want to spend your day target shooting with it. Your shoulder will hate you. I love my rifle, and I would buy it again. I had heard about the dreaded “Remlin” rifle but fit and finish on this 1895 Classic is as good as any JM stamp Marlin I’ve ever seen. Great looking wood and deep dark blue. I wiped off the factory oil and worked the action about 100 cycles including dry fires. Then a little Ballistol in the right places and it is smoothing out nicely. The purchase from Buds was smooth too! Sights are right on at 50 yards with 405 gr Remington. I’ve shot 7Mags that kicked harder. Looking forward to that bear hunt now!

LOOOOOOOOVE IT! Ever since I held my first .45-70 Guide Gun at a Shot Show many years ago I wanted one. I finally bought this one and I have zero, nada, none, no complaints. It eats whatever I feed it, is as accurate as I need it to be, I've never had one FTF or jam and it's more reliable than many people I know.
This bad boy's accounted for its share of deer and many hogs, and it eats factory and reloads with no problems. I'd recommend this for any game in the US, perhaps not grizzes, at closer ranges. If you use Hornady LEVERevolution ammo you can stretch the ranges a bit more but this gun works great with whatever you feed it.

Bad knees and so have not had this gun to the range. Looking forward to the range when the weather warms up here in Illinois

I was very pleased with the whole experience. I had never ordered a gun online before but the process was very simple. I was worried it wouldn't come in on time. I placed the order on a Friday and it arrived the next Wednesday. Gun was exactly what it was supposed to be. My husband loves it! Very happy and will probably order any future guns from Buds.

Haven't had a chance to fire this rifle yet as I am still accessorizing the gun ( scope, mounts, reloading equipment Etc.) out of the box, this rifle looks great and seems to function well, although a little "stiff" like any new gun. Very impressed so far, especially for a gun in this very affordable price range.

GREAT RIFLE HITS HARD, LIKE THE CALIBER.

Received this rifle and cosmetically it looks great, but mechanically it's awful. Rounds slide around in the tube, rounds don't lock into place when fed into the tube, and it jammed first round it took. Very unimpressed and wouldn't get another one.
