NOT SURE HOW TO RATE THE GUN I RECEIVED LAST WEEK. TOOK IT TO CABELA'S TO HAVE SCOPE MOUNTS PUT ON WHEN THE GUNSMITH CAME OUT AND SAID HE COULD NOT GET THE SET SCREWS OUT TO PLACE THE MOUNTS. THE ONLY WAY HE COULD DO SO WAS TO "DRILL AND TAP", SAYING THAT WOULDVOID MY WARRANTY. I HAD TO CONTACT REMINGTON AND ARRANGED FOR A PICK UP. REMINGTON WAS MOST CORDIAL ABOUT IT BUT DEALING WITH UPS WAS A PAIN! FINALLY GOT IT PICKED UP AND WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS....

This is an excellent shooter. After putting on all the toys, i.e. scope, bypod it is the most accurate firearm I have ever used. With reloads I was able to get 1 1/2" groups at 300 yds. Say your prayers Mr Prairie dog. A tad heavy to be lugging around the woods, but outstanding for long range target practice or "dog" huntn.

You can't go wrong with a Remington 700...period! I bought this gun for prairie dog hunting and it definately fits the bill. I love the beaver tail forearm and the vents to cool the barrel faster. Shoots like a dream and has a nice (but not custom) trigger pull. I mainly shoot pistols with 5 plus pounds of pull on the trigger so this trigger feels great to me. To put the cherry on top, it's chambered in a .204 Ruger! This round is amazingly fast and available in several grains. It is devastating on varmints and the carnage is something right out of a horror film. You will not regret purchasing this rifle in such a bad to the bone cartidge.

Best varmint rifle for the price...shoots 0.25 MOA using all types of ammo.
