Very good rifle at a reasonable price. Quality fit and finish. After a quick cleaning, this rifle functioned flawlessly. Now fitted with either a reflex site or a Nikon 3-9x, it's comparable to any of the more well known names where it counts.

Picked this up at my FFL after 5 shipping days. Flawless transaction from Buds as well as the FFL transfer. Weapon is amazing, fit and finish is great, and all the Magpul accessories really make this weapon. Can't wait to put some rounds down range. Buds Guns was good throughout the whole process with the exception of Gurney, in the trade in/used guns department. Wanted to trade some of my shotguns as partial payment, but after the initial email where he quoted me a price, there was no more correspondence, ever after numerous emails. Could not get him to return my emails. Hope everyone else has better luck working with him trading in weapons than I did.

Very Good Gun!!! I bought this about a year ago and has run flawlessly since then , the flat dark earth finish is very durable and can stand up to whatever you can throw at it , the buttstock and handguard are a little loose but thats just from normal use , strongly recommended especially if you love tan finishes on guns.

This is the second double star magpul fitted rifle i have purchased, once again extremely fast service from buds, The only trouble with this order is that the magazine was not a magpul but some cheap knock off brand. The rifle is in fine shape and a great looking black rifle this time, last rifle was the dark earth. Hope buds or double star reads these reviews and sends me the correct p-mag.

Firstly, Buds was quick and provided the usual stellar customer service. Phoenix Firearms was excellent and stayed open a little later for me to get there and even knocked $10 bucks off of the cost of a wicked nice bag. It was a little disconcerting to pick up a rifle from a VW repair shop, but as a fan of VDub's it made for an excellent sidebar. Real nice guys. Doublestar and Magpul have painted that fine line between practical and extravagant with this rifle. The furniture is as stated in the description, Magpul to include the 6 point tac stock w/ pad, flip rear site, oversized trigger guard, fore grip, sling point, etc. The fore grip/ hand guard is really sharp. It felt really comfortable in the prone and standing w/ the thumb on top grip (thumb aligned w/ the front sight, pulling into the shoulder). I've only thrown about 200 rounds of single use reloads through it w/o an issue. It took Magpul and Tapco mags indiscriminately, but I preferred the Magpul for quality. I'm not a great shot to begin w/, but was consistent w/ 2-3 inch groupings at 100 meters (approx). The flip up rear site is a neat feature and stayed true when I set to beating the weapon up (see below). Recoil was AR standard and minimal. Trigger was sweet and smooth like butter, the oversized trigger guard was like setting yourself down in the leather backseat of a ‘76 Lincoln, lots of room. My only complaint w/ the system is the lack of a case or bag, which is really reaching for something to complain about. The rifle is pretty, almost too pretty. I put about a hundred rounds through it before kicking the crap out of it. My old man would call this an “ugly up”. I threw the unloaded weapon into the sand/gravel and kicked it a few times, hard. I then chucked it into a cactus and bounced it off of a railroad tie two or three times. I knocked some of the dust off, loaded a mag, and went to town. Sights were still true and it functioned as expected: like a dream. Buy it now. You’re wife can wait until next year to go to Italy, after all those damn zombies won’t kill themselves. She may nag you and figuratively chew your head off, but zombies do that stuff for real.

Out of the box this rifle is performed perfect. I've fired several brands of ammo over the last week and found that my AR loves the PMC X-Tac 5.56 62gr. I received my rifle just over a week ago and just outfitted it with bi-pod, Blackhawk sling, and a 3-12x40 mil-dot scope. I'm already making plans for another Doublestar purchase for my daughter. Awesome AR! Love the fit and finish. Took it to the range put 160 rounds of PMC Bronze through it with zero malfunctions. Will be adding all kinds of accessories in the near future.

This is a great rifle!! It is very easy to use and maintain and it's accuracy is great at both 50 and 100 yards. I have equipped it with a Lepers scope which increased my accuracy at over 100 yards. Tear down and maintenace is a breeze. If you are looking for a good AR at a great price, this is the one gun to consider.

Beautiful rifle...really. This is my second Doublestar AR so I was already expecting quality fit & finish for a bargain...but man did I have a big ol' grin on my face when I had my first look! This rifle is rock solid and comes in a lovely shade of FDE. The Magpul MOE accessories really tie it together...included are the commercial stock, hand grip, enhanced trigger guard, hand guard, flip-up rear sight, and one 30r P-mag...all in a matching FDE color. For the price you really cannot beat this deal! Put 150 rounds of 55gr PMC through mine right out of the box with no issues. I found the trigger pull to be crisp and clean as others have mentioned and the included sights were spot on at 50 yards. I can't wait to deck this puppy out with a few more accessories and a good optic...Bud's needs to work on their stock of EOTECH HWSs and maybe pick up some Aimpoints as well. Bottom line, great purchase, and as always working with Bud's was fast and easy!

Well I'll let the facts speak for themselves. World class fit and finsh great quality look and feel. Pulled rifle from bow broke down cleaned assembled and headed for the range. 25 yards perfect no adjustment nedded 50 yards same result. 100 yards mind you these are magpul rear flip up and a2 front iron sights. 14in steel swing target had no chance even of hand produced a less than 3in group. And just for fun at 300 yards a 12x12 steel was hit second shot. Once again stock sights from box the range no adjusment and very impressive. Triger pull is crisp and even. All manner of rounds functioned flawlessly from 55 grain pmc anf remington to 69 grain hollow points to green tip 5.56 penetrator. Got love the set up and funtion. Similar guns sell local for 1300

Awesome rifle so far. It looks great and I love the Magpul accessories. I have only had the chance to step out back and put 2 full magazines through it. The 60 rounds of USAmmo FMJ operated perfectly. I will update when I have put more rounds downrange in a full eval. Thanks Buds!
